Cleburne Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office will host a National Night Out kick-off event from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Hulen Park. Cleburne Police invite all Johnson County residents to join the community for an evening of games, activities, food, and safety information.
Then from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, Cleburne neighborhoods can join thousands of communities statewide for National Night Out. Residents participate by turning on their porch lights, locking their doors, and spending the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters, and EMS paramedics. Many neighborhoods use this time to host cookouts, block parties, and neighborhood walks.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
- Generate support and participation in crime-prevention efforts.
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations.
- Send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
.
Cleburne Police encourage everyone to meet their neighbors and commit to helping law enforcement reduce crime in the community. Texas and Florida chose to have National Night Out in October due to the heat during the summer.
