More Pawsitive changes!

Our website has undergone some significant and dramatic changes. The new

version is now online and includes comprehensive information about the services WCHS offers to the community, such as:

  • low-cost spay/neuter clinic info, scheduling, and pricing;
  • routine veterinary services, vaccines, and microchipping appointments;
  • pets available for adoption;
  • community events for fundraising or just for fun.

You’ll also find links to outside resources like local animal control officers, wildlife rehab

specialists, and area rescue/adoption partners.

Check it out and let us know what you think. Click to View the New Website

All of us at WCHS want to extend our utmost gratitude to Beverly Stone and Nancy Frye

for their work on the website. Bev and Nancy are terrific volunteers and also happen to

be neighbors and close friends.

Can You Help?

Bridges over troubled water

are often washed away.

That is what happened to one of the footbridges along the dog-walking trail. Heavy rains dislodged the footbridge and carried it downstream.  Our dog-walking volunteers miss being able to take the dogs on longer walks through the woods.

Are you handy? Do you know anyone with experience doing trail repairs? Or maybe an Eagle Scout in need of a project? Perhaps you and a buddy are willing to come over with your tools and build a new footbridge. We’ve come up empty-handed after calling around and asking for help getting this done.

If you can help, email Lauren.

The dogs and dog-walking volunteers will be thankful.

Seeking Auction Items

for Wags to Riches.

After a four-year hiatus, Wags to Riches Auction & Party is returning this May. The beloved event is known for its amazing silent and live auction items.  It is one of our largest fundraising events.

Popular items include vacation getaways, wine baskets, restaurant gift cards, work by area artists, tickets to sporting events, or regional theaters or museums.  Your help is very much appreciated. If you are interested in donating goods, services, gift certificates, and baskets, please let us know by email.

All items should be dropped off at the shelter or mailed to WCHS by April 20, 2024.  Tickets will go on sale in the next few weeks, and we expect to sell out quickly!

Become a Pet Pal Today

Our annual Friendship Drive closes on February 29th. For as little as $1 a day, you will provide medicine, food, and spay/neuter surgery to hundreds of dogs, cats, and small pets.

Bell Urgently Needed a Friend Like YOU!

No food. Little heat. No room to stretch her legs.

No love.

Bell was among the many scared, suffering dogs brought through our doors. She never experienced kindness. All she knew were the bars of her crate. Bell wasn’t living; she was existing.

But her luck changed…. Because Friends like You believed that Bell deserved to be loved.

Will you make a promise to homeless pets through

Pet Pals, and help us save more lives?

If you prefer to give by check, please mail your donation to:

It’s that time of year when Spring feels so close that we can almost touch it! Spring comes with the birds and the bees and frisky feelings for fertile dogs and cats.

With your help, we can get every open appointment booked and prevent summertime litters. Spread the word!
