March 2024

FROM THE DIRECTOR

Thank you to Kathrine Brownlee, Courtney Pelfrey, and our wonderful Literacy Week committee for organizing an amazing week! At the week’s end, we donated over 75 books to Orlando Day Nursery and Killarney Elementary School. Most importantly, our Little Saints spent the week enjoying books and story times with special people, which helps them associate reading with joy and relationship rather than stress and memorization. Another big thank you to Orlando Family Stage and Winter Park Public Library for partnering with us to make the week extra special for our students.

On February 14th, Ash Wednesday began the 40-day period called Lent that takes us to Easter Sunday. The purpose of Lent is to make way in our hearts and our lives for the great events of Holy Week and Easter Sunday. The Easter story – Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection – is the story on which our faith rests. As an Episcopal school, we want to share these traditions and teachings with our Little Saints. Young children can understand Easter themes such as “coming to life” (blooming plants, butterfly life cycles, baby animals, etc.) and most importantly…how much God loves all of us and wants us to love each other!

Below you will find details about exciting and impactful things in the works here at All Saints School, including the annual Art Fest à la Mode on March 14th and Big Saints Bash on April 12th. Enjoy!

With Love,

Emory Messeroff

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS

Campus: Please double check and make sure all gates are securely latched as you pass through! In addition, please help us to reinforce the rule that only teachers and parents/guardians can open classroom doors. Security begins with each one of us.

Parking Lot: Please drive slowly and with extra caution through our school parking lot, especially while backing out of your parking spot.

Carline: A reminder that cellphone use is prohibited in carline. When your child is unloaded from the car in the morning, please do not drive away until all children and teachers are completely clear from the area.

Thank you for your help keeping our sweet school safe and secure!

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: GENTLENESS

This month’s “fruit” is GENTLENESS! God leads us with love and care, and He can help us treat others with gentleness in our words and actions.

“Gentle” is a word you hear often in early childhood classrooms as children are encouraged to use gentle hands with others and treat toys, materials, and belongings gently. This month we will explore what it means to have a gentle spirit by focusing on being respectful, loving, and calm.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2

DONATIONS NEEDED: HERBS AND SPICES FOR MUD KITCHEN

Spring cleaning? Consider donating your expired herbs and spices to our Outdoor Classroom’s mud kitchen! Donations can be dropped off throughout the month of March through carline or to the breezeway. Thank you!

GREEN SCHOOLS GRANT

We are excited to announce that All Saints School was awarded a 2024 Green Schools Grant from the Keep Winter Park Beautiful & Sustainable Advisory Board! This grant is awarded to schools serving Winter Park that are working toward achieving sustainability goals while engaging and educating their students in the practices of sustainability. We have received this grant 9 out of the last 11 years and have used it for a water bottle refill station, natural wooden toys, water trough system, garden enhancements, and more.

This year the grant will go toward interactive sensory walls made from natural and recycled materials for our playground and Outdoor Classroom! Stay tuned for more information on this exciting project.

BABY SAINT ANNOUNCEMENT

We are so happy to welcome this Baby Saint to the All Saints School family!

Congratulations to the Felton Family, who welcomed baby Miller on February 8th! Big sister Quinley is in Older Ones with Ms. Cindy and Ms. Maureen.

KINDERGARTEN PET SERVICE OUTREACH PROJECT RECAP

Thank you for helping our Kindergarteners make a difference in the community!

This past weekend we delivered multiple boxes of towels, food, treats, and toys to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. We also delivered over $120 to Spay N Save of Longwood thanks to your donations to Popsicles for Pets.

Thank you to Ms. Lori B. (Older Twos) for making both of these deliveries on behalf of our Kindergarteners and All Saints School!

RARE DISEASE DAY RECAP

Rare Disease Day 2024 was a huge success thanks to you! Our heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of you for your incredible support and generosity in support of Rare Disease Day.

Your participation in raising awareness for rare diseases, your generous donations towards research, and your willingness to stand together in support of this important cause demonstrates the true spirit of community and compassion that defines our school. Your contributions not only help to shine a light on the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by rare diseases but also fuel vital research efforts aimed at finding better treatments and, ultimately, cures. Your collective efforts are making a tangible difference in the lives of countless people, and for that, we are truly grateful.

As a result of your generosity, we raised $1,075.00, which All Saints will divide equally between The NUBPL Foundation and NORD.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your unwavering support. Your actions exemplify the best of humanity, and we feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of such a caring and compassionate school community.

~ Ms. Jamie
