It's finally fall and we are fully stocked for cool-season planting! Stop by soon to browse the best selection: the nursery is filled with mums, pansies and much more for fall and winter gardens. October and November are also the ideal months to plant trees, shrubs, vines, groundcovers and perennials so it's a great time to tackle those landscaping projects.
Now open Sundays from 1 to 5
Mum's the word: We have an excellent selection of chrysanthemums in a variety of colors and several sizes- perfect for fall displays and arrangements.
It's pansy-planting time: Pansies are the quintessential cool-weather bloom for sun or partial sun. For shadier areas opt for violas. We'll have our best selection of these between now and Thanksgiving.
Ornamental "leafy greens" such as cabbage, kale, mustard and Swiss chard add color and interest to winter plantings. Leaves in shades of white, pink, purple and red intensify with colder temps.
Fall Foliage & Flowers
Beautiful options for fall arrangements and displays, gifts and tablescapes can be found at the nursery this month.
In this arrangement (clockwise):
Croton
Chrysanthemum
Ornamental Pepper
Additional options in-store:
Cosmos
Coleus
Millet
Salvia
Sunflowers
Delectable fall edibles: herbs, veggies (beets, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage & cauliflower), greens and strawberries are in store. Several herbs (rosemary, parsley, thyme, oregano & lavender) are evergreen.
Plant now for spring blooms: Snapdragons,
dianthus, poppies and stock
will grow and bloom more vigorously next spring if planted soon. Snaps and dianthus are deer resistant.
Dig now, enjoy later: bulbs for fall planting, such as daffodils, tulips and hyacinth arrive today, however we recommend planting after Thanksgiving to lessen the chance of warm temps causing the bulbs to grow prematurely.
Evergreen Accents
Foliage that persists through cold weather can be planted to accent cool-season flowers or add color and texture to very shady areas of the garden through winter.
