Yard Waste Collection Begins April 1

Landscape waste collection with the Village’s contracted waste hauler, Groot, will begin on Monday, April 1st. This service for residents will run weekly through November 25th. Residents can dispose of grass clippings, shrubbery, small tree limbs, weeds, and leaves through this program. To participate in the landscape collection service, residents can utilize the following options:

  • Sticker Service: Residents may purchase stickers at $2.50 each to be placed on 32-gallon containers or a kraft bag. There is no limit to the number of containers that may be placed curbside that have a sticker on them. Stickers may be purchased at Village Hall (2301 E. Sand Lake Road) and CVS (2020 E. Police Department Launches Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Program

The Village of Lindenhurst Police Department is proud to announce the implementation of a Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Program commencing this week. This proactive measure demonstrates our commitment to fulfilling the requirements set forth by the Illinois Law Enforcement Officer-Worn Camera Act well in advance of the January 1, 2025 deadline. Our officers have diligently evaluated and tested BWCs since October 2023 and have undergone comprehensive training on the department's BWC policy. These body-worn cameras will complement the existing squad car video/audio system that has served our community for many years.

Body-worn cameras will enhance transparency, accountability, and trust while promoting officer and public safety. They will also help the Lindenhurst Police Department provide effective police services and develop, strengthen, and sustain partnerships in the community. Community-oriented policing, relationship building, fostering trust, and providing quality customer service represent the cornerstone of the Lindenhurst Police Department’s organizational philosophy.

Public Works Receives Community Service Award

At the Village Board Meeting on February 22, the Lindenhurst Public Works Department received the Community Service Award presented by the Lindenhurst Park District. The Community Service Award recognizes the department's outstanding dedication and contributions to the enhancement of parks, recreation, and leisure in our community. This recognition also highlights the Village’s strong partnership with the Park District.

Village Reminders

The Village offers reimbursements to residents who have planted a parkway tree, added shoreline buffer plantings, or purchased a rain barrel and/or compost bin. 50/50 program guidelines include:

  • The Village will disperse program dollars to the homeowner after proof of purchase and residency.
  • Households may participate once during the Village’s fiscal year (May 1- April 30).
  • Residents must submit a receipt to Village Hall for reimbursement.
  • 50/50 programs are on a first-come, first-served basis as budgeted funds are available.

These programs also help the Village further its sustainability efforts by enhancing the forestry landscape, preserving the shorelines of Village lakes, improving stormwater drainage, and reducing water consumption.
