Tennis play is social, entertaining, and a great aerobic workout. Learning to play is a commitment! After completing Jason Scicchitano and Emilie Roger's 6-week "Learn to Play" tennis clinic, seven students advanced to and now completed the 6-week Tennis Adult Intermediate Class.

The intermediate curriculum built on the first clinic with further training on shot selection and court placement. Everyone in the class had fun, whether they came for a single day or the whole course. Jason and Emilie made sure that we learned every aspect of the game while enjoying what we were learning.

Now it is up to the students to put into practice what was learned. Let's play!

Let's all support the girls high school tennis team! Play begins at 4pm on Friday and at 9am on Saturday (March 15-16) at STPC. Participating teams are Aspen, Centaurus, Glenwood Springs, Golden, Vail Mountain and Steamboat Springs. Steamboat placed 2nd last year and played some outstanding tennis. Come root them on to 1st Place this year!

Steamboat players had another outsized presence at the PPA Mesa Arizona Cup tournament the past week, bringing home medals in 7 divisions! Congratulations to the medal winners:

• Kim Gittleson & Leslie Knutson – Gold medal in 3.0 / 60+ women's doubles
• Sung Ioffredo & Patrice Lorenzen – Gold medal in 3.5 / 50+ women's doubles
• Patrice Lorenzen – Gold medal, 3.5 / 60+ women's singles
• Mary Henson & Sue Leiter – Silver medal in 3.5 / 60+ women's doubles
• Rick Garth & Jeff Peck – Silver medal in 3.5-4.0 / 70+ men's doubles
• Scott Lee – Silver medal, 3.0 / 60+ men's singles
• Dave Lorenzen – Silver medal, 3.5 / 60+ men's singles

A great time was had by all Steamboat-affiliated players and spectators, which included Kathy & Jerry Barnett, Loretta Conway, Anya Cooper, Dianne Kane, Lynn Koczera, Becky Lamb, Debbie & Moz Modzelewski, Holly Rogers, Deedee & Jay Schneiders, Meg Tully, and Gina Walker. (Apologies to anyone we unintentionally left out.)

It may be snowing outside, but summer will be here before we know it. STPC offers a variety of summer camp options for kids of all ages, so please go ahead and sign up.

1. Name – Should match that on the State income tax return where the EZ Tax Contribution Credit is claimed.
