March 10, 2023

Dear Rondout Families, Friends and Faculty,

We are excited to announce that on Thursday March 23, 2023, Rondout will be hosting a Bedtime Story Night for students in grades K-5. Pre-schoolers age 3 and above are also welcome to attend. Our 8th grade students will be our own home-grown storytellers sharing wonderful stories from our rich collection of picture books from our Rondout Library Media Center.

Join us in your cozy pajamas for a bedtime story hour. Bedtime Story Night will begin with check-in between 6:15 and 6:30 p.m. The activities will include storytelling and will end with a milk and cookie treat. Students must be accompanied by an adult. While parents may join the storytelling, we will also have a “coffee” bar available in the MPR for parents to connect, explore children’s books and visit.

We ask that you please RSVP to assist us in planning for materials and resources. We look forward to presenting this new family event for the Rondout Community.

Have a wonderful weekend. Until next time... Take care...

Superintendent

Milk Jugs Needed

We will be launching a special school wide gardening project creating mini greenhouses out of plastic milk jugs. Please save your empty gallon milk jugs. If you could please send them to school clean and with the caps on that would be helpful. We will share more about this exciting project in the weeks ahead. The empty milk jug collection will begin now and go through the Friday before Spring Break. We need "a lot" of milk jugs so check with your family, friends and neighbors. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions.

Staff Versus Students

Annual Volleyball Game

with the 7th and 8th Grade

The annual volleyball game is back again this year. This athletic challenge is between upper school students in grades 7 and 8 and the faculty. Mark your calendars for Friday March 24th at 1:15 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend. This is an early release day in anticipation of spring break with a 2 p.m. dismissal for K-2 and a 2:30 p.m. dismissal for 3-8. It is one of our long-standing traditions enjoyed by both participants and the audience.

Special Seniors Day Returns to Rondout!

Mark your calendars for Friday, April 28th!

For one day each spring, the population at Rondout doubles. That day, we open the doors and welcome special guests for Special Seniors Day, an event that recognizes and celebrates the special relationships and interactions between generations, and the desire for multigenerational interaction as part of our children’s education. The goal of the program is to give students a chance to bond with their special guest at school.

The event is a collaboration between the PTSA and teachers, school administration, and the community. Proud grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents and family friends have flown in from as far away as Los Angeles. Parents play a critical role in Special Senior’s Day (see below).  Because of this, parents are encouraged to find someone other than themselves, but if they want to be special guests, that’s OK.

RSVP Early!

We want to personalize this event as much as possible!  To do that, we need to capture the names of each Special Guest visiting Rondout.  There are 2 ways you can RSVP:

  • Electronically, through an e-invitation - Invitations were emailed to Rondout families on Friday, February 17th. In case the invite went to your spam, here is the URL: https://www.punchbowl.com/parties/7232fd1b275fed322817
  • Paper RSVP, via Backpack Mail - Fill out the RSVP form attached to the Falcon Flyer and send it to school in your child’s backpack.

Parents/Volunteers Needed!

This is a shout out to all Rondout parents, nannies and friends who could spare an hour of their day on Friday, April 28th.  We need help in all areas/aspects of this event. There is something for everyone to contribute on Special Seniors Day. Volunteer now by clicking below.

Participants must be able to attend at least 7 sessions. Open to students in grades 3-8, with a capacity of 15 students. Please contact Mrs. Zurek with any questions.
