Many thanks to Windsor County Sheriff's Office for support our SU! Each week WRVSU has a contract 6 hours for support for WRVSU schools. This does not count towards the hours the town Chelsea has negotiated. This week the Sheriff's office helped us at CPS with our pick up process in the afternoon. In addition, they donated footballs, basketballs, and soccer balls to both our schools for recess!

This week First Branch hosted two Preschool Info Nights at CPS and TCS. Families were treated to activities and dinner. In addition, they could get all their questions and concerns answered. Many thanks to Head Start for leading these events.

Stay tuned for more info on Art & Soul featuring 4th-12th grade students from all over WRVSU!

Hello First Branch!

Hello First Branch,

This week, we welcomed students back from winter break, and we are back on track with learning targets and intentions. What is a learning target? Learning targets are concrete goals written in student-friendly language that clearly describe what students will learn and be able to do by the end of a class, unit, project, or even a course. They begin with an "I can" statement and are posted in the classroom. We encourage families to ask their students about them.

In the days ahead, we have some exciting events and opportunities. Trailblazers will finish out their season on Friday, 3/8, and then on Tuesday, 3/12. Both of these dates provide transportation for students and chaperones.

Monday, 3/11, CPS will host the First Branch CPS Class Trip Fundraising evening for families of middle schoolers looking to get our class travel trips back up and running. In the past, classes went to Boston, NYC, and Washington DC. Kathy Galluzzo is kindly helping us kick-start this program for all grades. Kathy has supported this in past years and can share resources, contacts, and ideas to help. Come with your student to hear how to get started and local ways to get students moving towards goals. Let's start setting some goals and hitting the road!

Thursday, 3/14, TCS will host We R Hope, an organization supporting community in youth and family mental health. The topic for the event is "Mental Health Literacy," and is designed for all families ages Prek-12th grade. Come join us for dinner, free childcare, and a night of learning. This program is made possible by the community+ schools grant.

Finally, March is the season for parent-teacher-student conferences. Please see the signup document to access signup opportunities for Spring conferences. If you need support scheduling a conference, don't hesitate to contact your classroom teacher for TCS or CPS advisory teacher. The main offices in both buildings can also help.

Be Well,

Janet Cash

A Note From Our TCS School Nurses:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are entering that tricky time of year where the weather can vary significantly day to day.

We can have snow, mud, puddles and a dry area on the playground all at one time and children

need to be prepared to play in all of it.

Please work with your child to make sure that they bring all necessary clothing to school daily

until all snow is gone, the weather is consistently warm and the ground is fully dry. The health office has been able to help out occasionally when children/families forget an item

but, we cannot handle a large volume of children needing clothing to wear outside or changes of

clothing when they get wet.

Going forward, on warm days, clothing will not be loaned. This is being done to both help/remind children to be more responsible in bringing what they need to school and because there is not a safety concern regarding freezing skin.

As always, if your child needs any clothing necessary for school activities and you can not

provide them, please contact your child’s school nurse.

Please make sure your child’s name or initials is/are on all items.

It can be difficult to get children to participate in organizing themselves. Attached is an article

that addresses this for parents. Please take the time to read it. Helping your child to take

responsibility for themselves and be successful can boost self esteem.

Who Packs Your School Bag

Please use the attached checklist if helpful to encourage your child to ensure everything they

need is in their backpack so they have a successful day at school. Getting the backpack ready

the evening before may take stress out of the morning.

Thank You!

Chandler Children's Chorale

I'm happy to announce the formation of the Chandler Children's Chorale (CCC) for Grades 2-6. The mission of the CCC is to nurture and develop young singers/musicians in grades 2-6 with a lively, fun program. The children will learn and perform music in a variety of genres, including classical and musical theater. The CCC will add another dimension to the growing vitality and long-term commitment of the Randolph community to the arts, music and theater.

Additional information, including registration forms, is available on the Randolph Singers Website using this link: https://www.randolphsingers.org/chandler-childrens-chorale

First rehearsal is this coming Wednesday from 3-4PM at Chandler Center for the Arts.

Hello one final time, 2023 Tunbridge/One Planet caregivers,

The 25th anniversary season of Girls on the Run Vermont is coming right up! In order to keep the team going in Tunbridge, we need at least 2 coaches to register! We have an updated curriculum that we are excited to be sharing with coaches and participants alike to celebrate. No coaching or running experience is needed; Girls on the Run Vermont provides all of the training and supplies. Our final coach training is taking place virtually on Saturday March 9th from 9-10:30am.

We are looking for help keeping Girls on the Run going, as well as to get a middle school program up and going. You can find out more about Heart & Sole here: https://www.gotrvt.org/6th-8th-grade-program-details

If you are interested in coaching and have questions, please let me know! If you are ready to commit to empowering and inspiring girls as a GOTRVT coach this spring, complete your new coach registration form here. If you have coached with GOTR before, you can complete a return coach registration form here.

We are looking to get a Chelsea Girls on the Run team up and going as well!

What to Expect this season:

Participant registration opens Wednesday, February 21

Our season begins the week of March 18

We need at least 3 coaches to keep your team going! We strongly encourage teams to identify a couple of subs or Team Helpers to call upon as needed, too. Substitutes and Team Helpers are also required to submit a coach registration form.

The Girls on the Run program has a revamped curriculum this year!

Like last year, your superstars will receive a journal, cinch sack, water bottle and program t-shirt.

Essex 5K Celebration: Saturday, June 1

If you do coach, you do guarantee a spot on the team for your daughter. You still must register your daughter, and you would be given early access to do so.

Please feel free to forward this email on to anybody that you think would be interested in coaching in Vermont, or that has a daughter that is interested in participating.

Best wishes for health and contentment,

Anne
