"Growing Love" Deliveries have begun!
“Growing Love” deliveries have begun! This is a pastoral care project engaging children, youth, and their families in active ministry at Saint Paul’s. Our children and youth have spent the past two weeks painting pots and planting plants in them and are now delivering them to parishioners who unable to travel to church or who are dealing with illness or loss. This ministry engages our youngest members in the ministries of the church, connects and builds relationships between different generations, and these plants are a tangible reminder of God’s love and the love that we share at Saint Paul’s. ♥️

Deliveries will be happening over the next couple of weeks, and we look forward to more projects in the future.

Thank you, John Clemens, Meg Horton, Jim Hilliard, Linda Hilliard, Nancy Cercy, and Kitty Gordon for volunteering and investing in our children and youth through this project. If you would like to get involved with children and youth events, please contact Kim.
FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN

At the August Vestry meeting several upcoming events were highlighted along with exciting things being done by various committees. The upcoming fellowship dinners, Oktoberfest and Ironman are wonderful opportunities for the parish to gather and the Vestry is encouraging everyone to participate as they are able. Oktoberfest, in particular, will generate funds for outreach, while highlighting the fun of fellowship and German food culture. Check out this video below and get your tickets today!
We heard an update on the upcoming Stewardship campaign and its theological underpinnings that will lead us all in prayerful support of our Church. We also engaged in an in-depth discussion about hiring an additional priest, acknowledging these topics as inter-related. Being adequately staffed, both clerically and administratively, is a priority of the Vestry and we will work with the Finance Committee to add to our staff and fund the Church in a financially appropriate way. A subcommittee was formed to assist Fr. Biddy in assessing the options for an assistant rector and in any future steps related to starting and executing a search. It is crucial to support our Rector and congregation in our shared ministries and we are excited about these initial steps being taken. We encourage you to review the aspirational budget details in the forthcoming stewardship material and make a financial pledge.

We continued to define the liaison relationships and responsibilities between Vestry members and their respective committees, and we are thankful for Fr. Biddy’s leadership in helping us execute our Strategic Plan goals.

The Vestry reviewed and approved the context material for the various components of the to-be relocated Polk memorial, which had been prepared by Mr. Tom Robertson. This project will now move to the practical stage of relocation and the preparation of the related content, with a goal to remove, relocate and install all at one time. We will have a better idea of the time frames once Mr. Robertson gets with our contractor and we are striving to have this complete as quickly as possible.

From Rowan Williams, introduction to Being Disciples: “What we do, how we think and speak and act, how we grow in depth of relation with each other and God…I hope very much that [the topics in this book] may be a starting point for…growing in the life that Jesus shares with us so that we can become signs of life and hope in the world.”

This noonday Bible study will offer a tempting, light lunch as we focus on equally tempting lessons from Brian McLaren's We Make the Road by Walking. (This book is available on Amazon and other outlets but is not required for our study.)

McLaren’s teachings, which follow the liturgical calendar, offer new insights on “aliveness” in Christian living. Those new and not-so-new to the Christian walk can discover the beauty and joys of forging our journeys together.

You may bring your own lunch or share in the meal provided. Donations are requested to cover the cost of lunch each week.

The menu for September 8 will be a quinoa salad with grilled chicken and chopped veggies, bread and butter, banana pudding, tea and water.

Please use this link to sign up so we can prepare accordingly.
