Call for Community Participation in Annual Sticker Shock Campaign
ODP, in partnership with the Idaho State Liquor Division (ISLD), is gearing up to implement the annual Sticker Shock Campaign for the 2022 season. Designed to educate adults who may purchase alcohol legally and illegally furnish to minors under 21, stickers will placed on bags supplied by ISLD and distributed by state-operated and contracted liquor stores throughout Idaho.

Community organizations interested in participating can register here.

What ODP is asking of participants:
  • Recruit interested youth to participate
  • Connect with ISLD contacts and coordinate delivery and pick-up of bags and stickers
  • Schedule a "Stick 'em On" event
  • Invite Community Leaders, ISLD Associates, and other stakeholders to the event
  • Engage in media awareness
  • Celebrate the success of your efforts

What will be provided to participants:
  • Media advisories and release templates
  • A list of identified state-operated or contracted liquor stores in your area that will be participating
  • Bags and Stickers
  • Ideas and recommendations for events and related activities
  • Stipend opportunity of up to $200 to use towards event expenses
The Idaho Healthy Youth Survey 2021 State Report is Now Available
The Idaho Healthy Youth Survey (IHYS) gathers local-level data to aid in targeting efforts to prevent youth behavioral health issues. This survey provides data by state, hub, and school district to allow for planning at varying jurisdictional levels.

RESOURCE SPOTLIGHT
Idaho RADAR Center
The Idaho RADAR Center provides free, reputable evidence-based substance misuse prevention and substance use disorder resources to Idaho residents. The RADAR Center is a program under the Boise State University Institute for the Study of Behavioral Health and Addiction in conjunction with the College of Education & the College of Health Sciences.

ODP's resources are distributed via the RADAR Center. Find our Regional Prescription Drug Take-back Rack Cards and Speak Out/Opt Out Throw Out Campaign Materials, available for download or order.
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Empowering Parents Grants - Idaho State Department of Education
With the recent approval of Senate Bill 1255, Idaho Governor Brad Little and the Idaho Legislature created the Empowering Parents program to provide funding to Idaho families and their students to purchase education resources and services such as computers, tutoring and instructional materials.

Modeled after the successful Strong Families, Strong Students program, Empowering Parents is currently in early development, but parents can use the form here to sign up to receive updates as more information about the program becomes available.

I used to get melancholy every year as summer ended. The leaves turned, the Kokanee returned to Redfish Lake, and a cool breeze blew in. The chill meant the party was over, and it was time to put away my childish ways and head back to school. There was work to be done. 
 
Getting ready for the new school year isn't easy, so here are some tips:

2022 Idaho Juvenile Justice Association Conference

The conference, which attracts over 250 participants each year, provides a forum for learning and networking with presentations by nationally and internationally known juvenile justice experts. Attendees include school officials, treatment providers, paroling authorities, sheriffs, jail commanders, juvenile/misdemeanor probation and parole officers, juvenile facility wardens and superintendents, correctional officers, and a variety of line staff from around Idaho. Members of the legal and political communities, such as judges, lawyers, and decision-makers for city, county, regional, state, and federal agencies also encouraged to attend.
