STRONGER TOGETHER COMMUNITY WORSHIP SERVICE THIS SUNDAY!

We hope you'll plan to attend the Stronger Together community worship service THIS Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at R-S Central High School. We will not have morning worship at First Baptist Church Rutherfordton that morning.

Preschool, children, and youth Sunday school classes will not meet; adult classes are welcome to meet before heading to the service.

YOUTH FUNDRAISER LUNCH

Thank you to all who joined us and contributed!

Over $1600 was collected and will help the students attend FUGE camp.

CHURCH CONFERENCE SCHEDULED

The church will be called into Church Conference to vote on two items on Wednesday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the church conference room.

The two items we will be voting on:

1 - CHURCH TREASURER POSITION: Joe Hughes has asked to be relieved of his Church Treasurer duties after many years of service. Thank you, Joe!

After discussion and meeting with a candidate, the Administrative Leadership Council recommends Scott Kelly, a retired CPA and former church administrator, for the position.

Scott joined our fellowship in August. He has served in many church positions, including church administrator in Tuscawilla, FL, and at First United Methodist in Forest City. He studied accounting for two years at Stetson University to prepare as a CPA and eventually added the credential PFS (personal financial specialist with investment designations) to his title.

2 - RENTAL OF CHURCH FACILITIES: The staff and Administrative Leadership Council are reviewing our Building Use Policy with an eye towards making the building more accessible to others who might need the space. We are recommending changing one line of our policy. Currently, groups operating for commercial gain are not allowed to rent the space. The ALC is recommending that groups operating for commercial gain be allowed to rent the space with the approval of the ALC.

SENIOR ADULT SURVEY

Senior Adults (age 60 and above) are encouraged to complete a survey to help us strengthen our Senior Adult Ministry. You can complete the survey online (click button below) or complete a print copy. Print copies are available at the church or by contacting Beth Heffner.

Deadline to return the survey is February 25. Thank you!

OPEN MINDS ON MAIN

At Open Minds on Main, we strive to create a safe space where people can wrestle with their questions about God, Faith, hope, love, and more! We dig deep and talk through things, and even agree to disagree when needed while still showing love and respect for all.

Looking for a place like this? Join us this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Infinity Games and Snacks (234 N Main)!

CHECK OUT WHAT'S HAPPENING:

  • Welcome Table has enough chili volunteers (thank you!) but could use some desserts! If you could donate individually wrapped cookies, brownies, or cake slices without much icing for February 5 and 12, please let Nell Bovander know (call or text 828-429-9129).

  • We are looking for Valentine treats for our nine college students. If you can help, please bring your homemade or store-bought treats to the Fellowship Hall Kitchen on Sunday, February 11.

  • Tuesday Playgroup (S.A.M.E. = Science, Art, Math, Exploration) meets each Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. - Noon. All preschoolers with an adult friend are welcome to come and explore the classrooms for 2 hours of open play (wear play clothes!). For more information, email Donna.

  • B.I.G. Bible Study (Be Imitators of God) and Children's Choirs meet on Tuesdays from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Ages 3 through 5th grade are welcome!

  • A new Adult Study is meeting at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday nights and is facilitated by Jessica Godfrey. Currently, the conversation is based around Kate Bowler's Podcast, "Everything Happens." All are welcome! Check out the podcast here!

  • HopeWorks, a community afternoon program that meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays, is in need of canned drinks, snacks, gently used clothing, and shoes. If you can help contribute, drop your donations by the church office.

  • The Yokefellow item for January is canned meats. If you can donate any, please bring them to the church office.

  • You're invited to help provide breakfast for the students at Spindale Elementary by donating pop tarts, granola bars, or breakfast bars. Drop your donation by the church office anytime during the school year and we'll make sure it is delivered to the school.
