College and Career Week: March 11-15

March 11-15 was College and Career Week at RB! College and Career Week provided students with invaluable insights into post-graduation pathways. Students and staff were encouraged to wear college, union, and/or military apparel all week. Thank you to our counselors, social workers, school psychologists, and teachers for supporting RB students' success!

Yale Ambassador Presentation by RB Alum

2023 RB Graduate Paulina Carmona returned to RB to give a presentation about Yale University to junior students. During her presentation, she discussed financial aid, extracurriculars, student life, and housing and shared her own personal experiences of life on Yale's campus as a first-year student.

NAMI Senior Send-Off Presentation

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) gave senior students a presentation on next steps after graduation, how to foster personal wellness, how to accept and handle change, and managing stress throughout transitional periods.

College Fair

On March 14, RB hosted a College Fair for all students! Schools such as Depaul University, Loyola University, Columbia College Chicago, Carthage College, Triton College, Western Illinois University, Elmhurst University, and others were in attendance to share more information about their offerings.

Trades and Career Fair

RB hosted a Trades and Career Fair where students learned about future career options by meeting and asking questions with career representatives. Unions such as the Plumbers JAC Local 130 UA, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 21, Sheet Metal Workers 73, and others were in attendance. Additionally, representatives from Paul Mitchell The School Lombard, VCA Boone Animal Hospital, UIC College of Dentistry, Northwestern Hospital, United Parcel Services, American Job Center - North Riverside, and many others were able to share insights about their careers. It was also great to see members of the armed forces- some being familiar faces from the Veterans Day Assembly back in November!

Junior College Planning for Students and Families Presentation

Study Abroad Fair

Students in Ms. Acevedo's Spanish 4 Honors classes held a Study Abroad Fair for other Spanish classes. Students provided information on study abroad programs at different universities and gave insights on majors offered, activities, food native to each country, and typical costs for each program.

RBHS AP Art Exhibition

On March 8, the Riverside Arts Center held the 14th annual presentation of exceptional artworks made by students enrolled in RB's AP Art class. This group exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, photography, and digital art. The exhibition is on view until March 30th.

Game Night!

Thank you to the senior class officers for their time and dedication in planning Game Night! We hope everyone had fun, and congrats to the Dream Team for winning the dodgeball tournament!

Ferris Wheel Rides at Brookfield Zoo Chicago!

In honor of their 90th anniversary, Brookfield Zoo Chicago invited RB students and staff to ride their new Ferris Wheel before it officially opens to the public! Thank you to the Zoo for creating this unique opportunity for our students and staff.

Child Development Baby Shower!

Students in Ms. Pitzaferro's Child Development class had a baby shower for their flour sack babies! The baby shower was bee themed and students found out the gender of their flour sack baby. Next week, child development students will be responsible for flour sack babies after learning about pregnancy and newborns all semester.
