PTA Legislative Update
Contact your representatives TODAY to urge them to vote against the proposed FY2024 Labor-HHS-Education bill. The bill proposes cuts of $22.1 billion in education funding—a devastating 28% loss of vital educational programs. This bill would:
- Completely eliminate the Statewide Family Engagement Centers Program (SFEC), negatively harming countless children and families nationwide who are in need of vital family engagement opportunities and services.
- Reduce 80% of Title I funding, significantly risking the quality of education children receive in low-income communities.
- Cut roughly $300 million to school mental health services under Title IV-A, leaving schools understaffed to address the pressing national youth mental health crisis.
