Winter 2023

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS NIGHT

One of our goals in 2023 is to spread awareness in CNY about who we are and what we do, and to create relationships with other CNY organizations who are addressing the opioid epidemic.

Road2RecoveryCNY's Community Connections Night will inform the community about the programs and services it offers to address the opioid epidemic in Central New York, and offer the opportunity to connect with other organizations in the community that are involved with addiction treatment and recovery.

OUR “FAMILY RECOVERY PROGRAM” IS NOW “RESOURCE NIGHT”

Based on feedback we have received, and in an effort to increase attendance, we are rebranding our “Family Recovery Program” as “Resource Night.” We will also be rotating venues, so our meetings will be held in a variety of CNY neighborhoods.

R2RCNY "MISSION OF THE MONTH" AT DEWITT COMMUNITY CHURCH

A big thank-you to our advocate, Elaina, for her powerful presentation at DCC in January!

R2RCNY AT SYRACUSE CRUNCH GAME!

Many thanks to advocates Colleen & Caroline for representing R2RCNY at the January 27th Syracuse Crunch hockey game.

As you may have heard, Syracuse Crunch is partnering with SUNY Upstate and Crouse Health to raise awareness for the opioid epidemic.

WHY OUR MISSION CONTINUES TO BE IMPORTANT

We received this letter in January, along with a generous donation. It not only underscores the continuing need for what we do, but points to the need to increase awareness about R2RCNY throughout the CNY community.

Our sincere condolences to Jessica's family.

Dear Road2Recovery,

My name is Charlotte Adams. In January of this year we lost our daughter, Jessica Butchko, to suicide due to drug addiction and untreated mental health issues. She was not only our daughter but a mother and sister. We tried multiple times to get Jessica the help she needed, but as they say you can't help someone who is not ready to help themselves.

Our friends and family graciously donated funds to help us with our unexpected funeral expenses, but we as a family have chosen to donate those funds to Road2Recovery. Our hope is that in some small way our donation can prevent another family from going through the heartbreak that ours has.

My only wish is that we had learned about your smaller, more individualized treatment options months ago.

Sincerely,

The Family of Jessica Butchko
