Sloan Creek Intermediate School Principal Message

Good evening Sloan Creek Parents,

We had an amazing week. I am happy to report that we raised $230 this week for breast cancer awareness. I am so excited to see what our grand total will be at the end of the month.

Report Cards for the first 9 weeks have been finalized in PowerSchool and will be available to view tomorrow. Please know you can check PowerSchool periodically to stay up to date on your student’s grades throughout each grading period. If you have any questions or concerns after viewing your child's grades at any point, please contact the applicable teacher. Please note we will not send home paper copies of report cards.

Please see below for information about 5th grade camp! I cannot wait for our 5th grade students to have this experience. Many memories will be made for sure.

I am looking forward to serving donuts for students with October birthdays tomorrow. I am also looking forward to seeing many of you for Coffee with the Principals tomorrow at 8 am. We will be discussing grades further, Leopard Time, calendar pages for organization and upcoming events.

Lastly, be sure to ask your kiddos about our first Creek Life assembly which will take place on Monday, October 17th. This assembly is for students and staff only and will focus on coming together for recognitions as well as important school information. We are encouraging all staff and students to wear team jerseys on Monday.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening and as always, please reach out if you need anything.

Character Trait- Caring

We will be focusing on a Character Trait each 9 weeks during our guidance lessons and our Monday Classroom Conversations. The first nine weeks we focused on responsibility, accountability for one’s actions and dependability. This second 9 weeks we will be focusing on Caring. We will discuss how characteristics of caring impacts personal relationships. Each student will evaluate his/her own personal attitudes and mindsets about self and others. We will discuss how feelings, decision making, and personal behaviors can influence relationships with others, and explain and identify examples of how a person can demonstrate empathy through kindness, charity, generosity, and courtesy.

Continuing with the discussion at home will help students identify ways that they can show concern and empathy for others. Thank you for partnering with us!

Lovejoy ISD Community News

Happy National School Lunch Week! Our October Nutrition Newsletter is attached. The topic this month is 5 Game Day Foods That Will Score Big This Football Season.

It’s that time of year again to celebrate our amazing teachers and staff with our Lovejoy Letter Writing Campaign! Many of you are familiar with this beloved tradition, but for those of you who are not, it is the time of year when current and past students and parents write appreciation letters for each of our teachers and staff members across the district.

The letters do not have to be elaborate or lengthy. The goal is just for people to write a note of thanks to show gratitude to their teachers, the staff and administration in our district. It is an opportunity for us to take the time to let each person who makes a difference for us throughout the school day know how much we value them.

Please clearly label the envelope with the staff/teacher’s name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return the letter to the box located in the designated area at your school no later than Friday November 11th.

The letter writing campaign has become such a meaningful tradition in our district. We really appreciate your time and effort to help us tell our teachers and staff thank you for all that they do!
