Love Wins

by Rob Bell

Adult Christian Education

continues this weekend!

Bell challenges Christian readers to examine their views on heaven, hell, damnation, traditions, and God’s love. Key points will be discussed from the chapter read before each session.

This weekend's reading is

Chapter 8, “The Good News Is Better Than That".

The Gospel of Mark is the earliest written, the shortest, and maybe the most puzzling.   Why the sense of urgency and the ‘missing’ details? Why did Jesus tell people not to tell anyone about him?

Join Kathy Anderson in a study of Mark’s gospel which will include how modern scholars view the uniqueness of this gospel, and how it can encourage us today.

The study is Mondays from 1:00 – 2:15 pm in Rowe Hall room 101. Bibles will be available or bring your favorite version.

Temporary Closing Soon!!

Our library will be closed April 1 through the completion of the restoration of the sanctuary.

Please check out books before March 31.

There is no limit on the number of books that you can borrow!

Barb's Medical Minute

The older we get, the frailer we get. To cut the odds by 35% get an additional 10 mg. of the compound quercetin from your food.

Sure, never heard of it. It’s a plant pigment called a flavonoid which gives fruits, vegetables, and flowers their colors. It is an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant. It can help heart disease and lower blood pressure, prevents damage from LDL cholesterol, helps prevent cancer, reduces pain with prostate infections and from rheumatoid arthritis, and reduces symptoms of allergies. Quercetin neutralizes DNA damaging molecules in the body.

This is great—but how do we get it? Red wine (Yea), apples, berries, onions, nuts, tea, (ok, so far, so good), kale, (here we go with the yucky foods), broccoli, & asparagus. You can also eat your bouquet of pansies or roses, or you can get it in a supplement form, but always ask your Dr. first to make sure it is ok with your other meds. I’m all for taking a supplement with my wine!

Please keep the following people in your prayers:

  • Ellie Boehmer
  • Lorrie Bogart
  • Caroline Giambattista
  • Nancy Jones
  • Karen Koblenz
  • Bev Roesler
  • Pat Ross
  • Eric Sweeney

Blessings to Marlys Winkelman as she moves to Minnesota to be closer to her family.
