HELP needed at the

WEST VIEW HUB

The West View HUB has taken over a new space beside the existing HUB center. They are converting this previous store to support various forms of artistic experiences for children. Studies have found that expressions of art can help children cope with stressful broken family situations. This center will include a sound room for creating music and an open area for concerts, painting, making crafts,

yoga, and any other talents we can offer.

On Wednesdays they work from 8:00 AM to noon. Presently they need talents for adding drywall, finishing a suspended ceiling (with lights) in the sound room, completing the mounting for an exhaust fan, installing a utility tub, building another bathroom pipe-rack cover, and designing, building and installing a bench about 20 feet long. As time goes on, there will be additional items added to this changing list.

Frank Klein, rmk4124@hotmail.com, is coordinating this effort. Just text him expressing your interest, and he will include you in his weekly post of needs for the following Wednesday.

Sunday, March 12th marks a notable milestone in the life of our church. 5 years ago, Pastor Ben Robbins was installed at Northmont, and, to recognize this anniversary, Session, Deacons and Presbyterian Women will be hosting a luncheon in Fellowship Hall following the service. Through this celebration, we hope to show to Ben our very great appreciation for his pastoral care and leadership in the years since he first came to our church. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, March 12th, and we hope you will join us for this joyful event. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.

In celebration of the resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday, The Deacons invite you to play a role in the beautification of the sanctuary with spring flowers. Order forms will be available on Sunday or at the link below. All orders much be received by Wednesday March 29th with payment in full. Checks should be made out to Northmont U.P. and marked "Easter Flowers"

During the season of Lent you will note that the music and tone of worship are generally more somber. We have said goodbye to Alleluia until Easter and soprano descants in our congregational hymns until Palm Sunday. At the same time, penitential aspects of the season will be highlighted through the music. During Lent, the introit will be Attende Domine, a traditional Lenten chant that is Mozarabic in origin, and each Sunday a different verse of the text, known as the Lenten Prose, will be sung. We will add the singing of the Lord have mercy to our confession time. The words will be sung in Greek: Kyrie eleison (Lord, have mercy), Christe eleison (Christ have mercy), Kyrie eleison. This text, along with that of the Trisagion, which we will hear on Good Friday, are the only portions of the liturgy that have remained in Greek throughout history. As such, using the Greek reminds us of just how ancient our faith and its liturgy are.  I wish you a holy Lent.

Plea for help: Adult Handbells practice on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30. We are desperately in need of more ringers if we are to continue ringing. If you would like to join us, please contact me at stephen@northmontchurch.org. We usually ring once a month. A strong commitment and an ability to read music are needed. We will teach you how to ring if you haven’t. Handbells have been a vital part of Northmont’s music ministry over the years. It would be a shame to see this legacy end. Please consider joining us if you can.

If you are interested in knowing more about singing in the choir, please contact me at stephen@northmontchurch.org. Chancel Choir practices 6:30 - 8:30 most Thursdays and sings for worship throughout the school year. Requirements are a pleasing voice, the ability to read music, and a good sense of humor.
