THE NEXT 30 DAYS
Maximize Each Day of Foot Health Awareness Month
Be honest - are you ready for the month that's made for you?!!
Obviously I'm talking about FOOT HEALTH AWARNESS MONTH.

Every year, I urge DPMs to use the 90 days (January - March) to plan an epic marketing/communications/awareness campaign to launch on April 1. 90 days may seem like a lot of time to put a plan together, yet I fail to see many practices utilize this time to make something happen.

Trust me, I'm not scolding anyone for finding it difficult to find time to plot a 30-day strategic communications campaign; let's be real, I write this newsletter on the last day of the month every month.

OK, but here we are. April 1 is coming whether we like it or not. So I'm here to give you some ideas you can utilize on your social media channels to increase patient communication and awareness for the next 30 days - just in case you're currently empty-handed.

Check out the verbiage below aimed to help you brainstorm a social media post for each day of April. NOTE: THIS IS WEEK ONE ONLY.

Stay tuned for further post suggestions / templates.

APRIL 1
No fooling around.... it’s Foot Health Awareness Month!

It’s hard not to be aware of your feet considering they get you up and going each and every day... but how seriously do you take the aches and pains or the things make you say, “that looks weird.”

Listen to your feet and take them seriously when they’re trying to let you know something’s not quite right!

APRIL 2
Toenails starting to look a little yellow? It might be fungus.
You may automatically think, “GROSS!” It’s not.

It’s incredibly common and the physicians at our practices see dozens of cases every week from people of all genders and ages.

Sandal season is upon us and you don’t want to have to hide your toes until winter. (enter call to action)
APRIL 3
Did you know that the first Wednesday in April is National Walking Day? Walking is a great way to clear your mind and engage in low-impact exercise, but it's not ideal if you're experiencing foot pain.

Our practice specializes in treating chronic foot pain with (enter treatment here).

APRIL 4
FORE! It's that time of year to dust off the clubs and get back on the golf course!

Even if you don't walk when you play, it's imperative to have both proper fitting shoes as well as orthotics to ensure you avoid a handful of foot or ankle injuries that come from several rounds of 9 or 18.

APRIL 5
April is foot health awareness month and our team of physicians wants to remind you to take time to inspect your feet regularly.

While most abnormalities can be treated with very little complications, there are other conditions that can become serious problems or can spread to your family members.

APRIL 6
April 6th is Love Our Children Day.
It goes without saying that we love our children every day.

As parents, you do everything you can to keep your child(ren) safe and healthy, but one area that often gets overlooked is their feet!

APRIL 7
Now that it's getting warmer, we are starting to see more people getting outside and becoming active again. It's also when our practice begins to see a lot of patients for Achilles Tendonitis.

Our physicians are experts in treating all kinds pain and inflammation. We take the necessary time to fit you for appropriate footwear and offer (enter treatment type) for any acute pain/injuries that come with a surge of spring time energy.

WHAT PREVIOUS ATTENDEES ARE SAYING...

“I can honestly say it was a life-changing & eye-opening experience for me. I knew I loved pediatric work, but I left the conference feeling invigorated and more passionate & ambitious for podopeds than ever! Your conference truly has the best setup and friendliest group. I am so excited to attend future conferences & stay involved & advocate however I can!”
“Real dedication to pediatric foot and ankle specialty care. The emphasis on content and quality is an example for other conferences.”
"In my opinion, ACFAP is probably the best annual meeting that anyone in the field of podopediatrics could attend. It combines a passion for helping children, a stunning natural setting, and the chance to collaborate with like-minded professionals. It’s an experience that enriches both the mind and the soul. I wholeheartedly recommend ACFAP.org to anyone looking to expand their knowledge and make a meaningful impact in pediatric podiatry."

LET THE LITERATURE LEAD
What I Learned from My MLM Experience
Say what you want about multi-level marketing programs (or as most people refer to them, the dreaded PYRAMID SCHEME!). Granted, it's unlikely I would ever get involved in one again (I had my first and last experience in 2014), but there were a lot of "crash course" business lessons learned.

One of them is a semi-extension of an article I shared last month:

Those who invest into an MLM program, very often have zero sales experience. The creators of these programs know that; they know they have a team of individuals who either have no experience selling, they are terrible at selling, or they have a morbid fear of selling.

As I was reflecting on my experience 10 years ago, it occurred to me that there are lot of physician practices who have team members in the same boat; so I am going to share a, potentially obvious, pearl that I gained from my short-lived MLM career.

Let the literature do the talking!

If you have ever been a part of an MLM program, you are probably familiar with the fact that they load you up with collateral (brochures, flyers, videos, etc.). Simply put, they would coach members of our teams to shut up - and pass out literature or press play on a video. Let the masters behind the product/service do the "talking."

This had 2 key benefits:

  1. The "sales rep" had less opportunities to say something inaccurate
  2. It took pressure off the inexperienced or apprehensive sales rep and made them more confident in the process of creating awareness

But, there are long-term benefits as well. I wouldn't recommend that this be the ONLY communication plan for your practice; however, when you have a team member that is new or reluctant, your collateral materials also equip them with the information they need to, essentially, study. Once they become competent with the information inside, you will probably start to see them coming out of their shell more and more and becoming a shining start of your dispensing team.
