Mission & Core Values Discussions

Sundays at 9:30

All are invited to participate in conversations about the proposed Mission & Core Values statement on Sundays at 9:30 in St. Michael’s Hall. These sessions will be held each Sunday through March 3.

This Sunday, Pastor Carlson will introduce the intention and process of developing a Mission, Purpose & Core Values statement. Future weeks will focus on specific parts of the proposed draft.  

More information about this statement is available at faithlc.org/council. The proposed draft will be considered for a vote of affirmation at the congregational annual meeting on April 28, 2024. 

Adult Faith Formation

The Divine Drama



Wednesday night Adult Faith Formation meets from 6:15—7:00 pm in St. Michael’s Hall with a focus on the New Testament and the forgiving grace of God who came to us in Jesus Christ to rescue us from sin and restore us to a right relationship with God and each other. All are welcome, even if you didn’t attend the fall sessions. Click here for more information.

Ladies' Night Out

January 16 | 6:30 - 8:00

The women of Faith Lutheran will gather on Tuesday, January 16 from 6:30—8:00 pm in St. Michael’s Hall. During this time we will plan future gatherings for 2024. Please bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Click here to sign up.

Middle School Palooza

February 2

Youth in grades 6-8 are invited for a carnival-themed Middle School Palooza on Friday, February 2 from 6:30—10:00 pm at church. Cost is $15. Click here to register.

Luther College Nordic Choir Concert

February 2 at 7:00



A Luther College Nordic Choir Concert will be held on Friday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Des Moines. Tickets ($20 adults / $10 students) are available online at tickets.luther.edu and will also be available at the door via cash, check, and credit card. 

Organizers of the concert are asking for people to host 2, 3 or, 4 students overnight in your home. Students are able to share a queen bed or larger. Families will take students home after the concert, offer a snack, sleeping accommodations, and bathroom access. In the morning after breakfast (light is fine), bring them back to the church at the designated departure time to catch the bus.

Children's Musical

February 10 & 11

The 36th annual Children’s Musical will be February 10 at 5:00 and February 11 at 8:15 & 10:30. The Sunday at 10:30 performance will be live streamed on the church website, Facebook, and YouTube.  

Shrove Tuesday Fundraiser

February 13 | 5:30 - 7:00

The Shrove Tuesday dinner will be February 13 from 5:30—7:00 pm in St. Michael’s Hall. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, and dessert. A free-will offering will support the Sr. High trip to New Orleans this summer for the ELCA Youth Gathering.

Lutheran Day on the Hill

February 19

Join Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) and the three Iowa synods of the ELCA for Lutheran Day on the Hill in Des Moines on February 19. Lutheran Day on the Hill is LSI’s biggest advocacy event of the year. Over 150 participants gather at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church to learn about critical issues Iowa children, adults, and families are facing. After learning about advocacy and LSI’s mission in action, the group heads to the Iowa State Capitol to talk directly with legislators. Register at lsiowa.org/ldh.

Cancellation Policy

During adverse weather conditions, cancellation of Faith Lutheran Sunday worship and activities will be determined no later than 6:00 am on Sunday. Cancellation of congregational activities all other days will be determined no later than 12:00 noon. Information regarding cancellations will be posted with WHO 1040 AM radio, KCCI TV channel 8, Faith’s Facebook page, the church website, and a direct email to the congregation.

Altar Flowers

You can honor a loved one or commemorate a special occasion by sponsoring altar flowers. Click here to sign up for a specific date. Cost is $50 per bouquet. Payments can be made online.
