A Note on Easter décor

Dear Members of the Congregation,

Easter is approaching soon. Exciting changes are afoot for our Easter decorations this year, courtesy of your dedicated Worship Committee. Over time, we've carefully considered feedback from our community, including concerns about allergies and the labor-intensive nature of floral arrangements. In response, we're introducing a fresh approach to our Easter décor.

This year, prepare to be enchanted by new silk arrangements and vibrant Easter Banners adorning Boulder Hall, the narthex, and the sanctuary. These additions promise to infuse our sacred spaces with renewed splendor and joy.

We owe immense gratitude to the creative vision and hard work of Mary Snethen, Susan Tanabe, Betty Flick, and Susan Ray. Their dedication has brought these delightful enhancements to fruition, and we encourage you to extend your thanks to them for their efforts.

Strategic Plan Dialogue – As discussed in the Congregation Annual Meeting in February, a draft of the Westminster Presbyterian Church 2023 Strategic Vision Plan is available. This plan calls for broad initiatives in the following areas as Westminster embraces the future:

• Congregational Vitality
• Addressing Systemic Poverty
• Dismantling Structure Racism
• Reimagining Church Team Paradigm
• Creating Sustaining Revenue Sources and Transparent Financial Communication

Opportunities

Youth Geranium Sale is back! We are so happy to offer you Peterson Nursery's BEAUTIFUL individual geraniums AND mix colored floral baskets (petunia and other mixed florals) for pre-order!!!

The baskets are different this year, but I've been told by the owner that every time people order one, when they see it, they usually ask for a few more! 

Flowers are $6 each and hanging baskets are $30 each.

Flowers can be picked up on Sunday morning, May 5 from 9-11:00 AM.

Delivery is available for $10 if necessary.

Pre-Orders are due by April 18.

Free piano! Barbara Nelson is moving and must find a home for her beautiful Cable piano ASAP. This piano is console height, slightly taller than a spinet but shorter than an upright. From a non-smoking, non-pet home. Dial Bill (503-576-1278) or Katie (503-580-5631) if interested.

Marion Polk Food Share Garden Program 5th Sunday Special Donation: Look in the narthex this month and you’ll see a wheelbarrow! It needs to be filled with items for our Marion Polk Food Share garden friends and their youth garden projects. Place your smaller gently used or new items in it. If you have any of the larger items listed below, fill out a card with your name, name of tool and a contact number and also place in the wheelbarrow. Please bring them by March 31.

• Garden gloves
• Hand tools (spades, small hand hoes etc.)
• Larger tools (shovels, rakes, hoes, loppers)
• Our community gardeners are always looking for lawn mowers, rototillers and weed whackers, but these may be a bit too large for the wheelbarrow- fill out card to donate

In Case You Missed It

The youth group and Building & Grounds are working on a new little community resource center for the property! Soon you will see the installation of a cabinet in our parking lot near the Scout Lodge. This will include a little library, space for people to leave non-perishable food items, and a space for announcements for the community and church! Many children and neighbors walk through our parking lot every day on their way to and from school or to walk their dogs. We hope this will be a great resource for the neighborhood! We plan to paint it with some custom artwork to highlight our appreciation for the arts at Westminster! The cabinet was built by Joe Mello from Center 50+ with donations from Chet Flick and Steve Mather. Keep an eye out for this and feel free to drop donations in it anytime! Big thanks to our Building & Grounds, MPEJ, and Library friends for making this happen! If you have questions about donating books, please contact Sue Ray. For questions about donating food, please contact Michelle Hare.
