DAAD North America is currently seeking students and faculty to join the Young Ambassador and Research Ambassador programs! These DAAD Ambassadors have experience abroad in Germany and work to promote Germany as a study and research destination on their campuses. DAAD Programs, Scholarships, and Grants

For Undergraduates

Apply to Be a Young Ambassador


Applications are now open to become a DAAD Young Ambassadors for the upcoming academic year! Young Ambassadors are undergraduate students who recently studied abroad in Germany and promote study in Germany at their home colleges/universities with help from DAAD. Only one student may be nominated per college/university.

Application deadline: April 25

Research Funding

German Studies Research Grant


German Studies Research Grants are awarded for one to two months to highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students at US and Canadian universities nominated by the professor supervising their German studies-relevant research.

Application deadline: May 1

Spring Deadline Announced

Short-Term Research Grants


Short-Term Research Grants are awarded for 1-6 months to highly qualified candidates who have completed a Master’s degree or Diploma, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor’s degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant supported research, or those who have already completed a PhD (postdocs).

Application deadline: May 2

The DAAD Alumni Association of the US is inviting you to join us at the Lifetime Achievement Award celebration on April 17th, 2024 in New York. The award honors some of the most important people in international academic exchange. This year, the recipients are Allan Goodman (IIE), Mary Ellen Schmider (Fulbright Association) and Hon. David Gill, Consul General of Germany in New York.

Call for Abstracts

ACIEE Colloquium


Abstracts are now being accepted for the 27th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education, to be held on the University of Rhode Island (URI) campus Nov. 7-8, 2024! All 300-word abstracts with a one paragraph executive summary must be received by Friday, April 19, 2024. You can find more information about sessions and workshops at the link below. The colloquium will be sponsored by the Federal Republic of Germany through DAAD.
