Tenebrae: A Service of Shadows
St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church
Friday, March 29, 8:30p
The word Tenebrae means “shadows." Through the course of the prayers and psalms, candles are extinguished until the church is plunged into a darkness symbolic of Jesus’ three days in the tomb. The next light to enter the church is the paschal candle at the Easter Vigil. Through a series of readings and choral pieces accompanied by instruments, lights and candles, this powerful service journeys through Christ's last seven days and musically contemplates the events of Holy Week, particularly the Passion of our Lord, Jesus Christ. For more, contact Steve Alic, [email protected].
St. Maria Goretti's Holy Week schedule of Masses, Stations of the Cross, Commemoration, and other services are found on the smgonline.org home page.
