IC Parish Covid regulations: |
Our parish will continue to have a designated area in our church where blue tape blocks off every other pew to provide social distancing. However, beginning this weekend, November 19-20, that area will be reduced to a section on the left side of the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The use of facemasks in our church is recommended, though no longer required. We strive to be attentive to the needs of the parishioners who are immunocompromised or those who have family members who are in delicate health. At the same time, we try to balance that concern with the need to accommodate the increased number of people attending our Sunday Masses.
The above decisions have been informed by the advice offered by the Reopening Committee of our parish. We will continue to monitor conditions and update our parish policies accordingly.

Campaign for Human Development
This weekend's second collection goes to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This campaign addresses the root causes of poverty in America through the promotion and support of community-controlled, self-help organizations and transformative education. Grants are awarded by the Subcommittee on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development with the approval of local bishops.

Meals for the Hungry
| |
As a parish, we serve dinner to ~150-200 people on the third Saturday of every month.
Donations can be dropped off at the Immaculata kitchen (attached to the school) between 4 and 4:30 pm on Saturday. Individual meals will be packaged and transported to Urban Ministries on Liberty Street.
Please drop off food no early than 4:00 and no later than 4:45. Last month, food was dropped off as early as 3:30, so it is likely not going to be hot when the people get their containers to eat. Thanks for your help!

JustFaith
Part I of our JPIC JustFaith program, “Faith and Poverty: A Biblical Response,” concluded this Saturday with an "immersion experience" at Urban Ministries of Durham. Participants helped to prepare and serve breakfast to over 150 homeless persons and others in need. They also helped prepare lunches, concluding the day with a theological reflection and discussion about the experience. Grounded in Catholic Social Teaching, the JustFaith program seeks to guide parishioners in exploring the Gospel’s call to respond to poverty in our communities, nation, and world, equipping participants with practical tools to take action in effective and sustainable ways. We hope you will consider joining us for Part II of this program next year. Thanks to our co-facilitators and everyone who participated in this Fall's program.
