Generations United, Humana Co-Host Grandfamilies Mental Health & Emotional Well-being Webinar
Generations United and Humana will host an interactive webinar on Sept. 12 from Noon to 1 p.m. ET to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on grandfamilies’ mental health and social isolation. The webinar includes a panel of grandfamilies and a presentation from Deborah Langosch, PhD, LCSW, a clinical social worker, trainer, psychotherapist, and consultant. Register here

Generations United Receives William Penn Foundation Grant
Eight organizations are slated to receive 3-year grants totaling nearly $3 million from William Penn Foundation. Generations United was among the grant recipients. Funding will allow us to convene a learning community and provide technical assistance to fellow grantees. Those grants will fund initiatives supporting grandfamilies in Philadelphia. Grant recipients range from grassroots organizations to multi-service agencies. Those initiatives include providing case management, education, emergency funding, outreach, peer support groups, and referrals. More than 1,500 grandfamilies will benefit from William Penn Foundation’s gift. Learn more.

Intergenerational Program of Distinction or Program of Merit Certification Application Deadline Extended to Sept. 9 | |
Generations United is accepting applications to recognize outstanding intergenerational programs that are connecting younger and older people in the United States. The Program of Distinction and Program of Merit (new in 2022) designations are based on the criteria that underpin the effectiveness of any intergenerational program and are intended to recognize the rich diversity among programs that involve older and younger generations. T-Mobile Hometown Grants is a $25 million, five-year initiative in April 2021 to support the people and organizations that help small towns across America thrive and grow. T-Mobile is putting out the call again for potential new awardees. Applications will be accepted on a quarterly basis. Learn more.
Power of Youth Challenge: Serve This Summer Grants are available to young people who are currently residing in the United States and between the ages of 13 and 19 years old. The grants support service projects that are youth-led and respond to an identified need in your community. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Learn more.
The Community Heart & Soul Seed Grant Program provides $10,000 in startup funding for resident-driven groups in small cities and towns across the United States to implement the Community Heart & Soul model. Grant funding requires a $10,000 cash match from the participating municipality or partner organization. Applying organizations must be from communities with populations of 2,500 to 30,000. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all grants have been awarded. Learn more.
The Department of Education posted the application for $68 million in grants to support students through Full-Service Community Schools today. Applications are due Sept. 12, 2022. Learn more.

Koreatown Storytelling Program Profile is part of our work to spotlight outstanding intergenerational programming in diverse communities around the country. This program is an oral history and media project connecting high school journalists and community elders in Los Angeles’s Koreatown neighborhood. Learn more.
Reinforcing a Strong Foundation: Equitable Supports for Basic Needs of Grandfamilies, the 2021 State of Grandfamilies in America Annual Report, includes updated national and state data on grandfamilies and key recommendations to address inequities and provide critical supports to serve grandfamilies well. Racial Equity Toolkits are designed to give resources and tips to child welfare agencies, other government agencies, and nonprofit organizations, so they can better serve all grandfamilies. Generations United has produced a toolkit for American Indian and Alaska Native grandfamilies, African-American grandfamilies, and Latino grandfamilies. Learn more.
Sharing Our Space: A Toolkit for Developing and Enhancing Intergenerational Shared Sites is designed for individuals and organizations interested in creating an intergenerational shared site or enhancing services at their current site. Divided into 10 sections, the toolkit details every step of the development and operation process, from initial planning to sustaining long-term shared site programs. Learn more.
Making the Case for Intergenerational Programs provides rationale and facts to help make the case for intergenerational programs. It is based on a comprehensive review of the literature on intergenerational programs and highlights evidence-based findings on how intergenerational programs benefit everyone. Staying Healthy Across Generations: Vaccines are Essential for All Ages is an infographic that illustrates that vaccines aren't just for kids - they protect all generations - especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
