With over three decades of experience in community work and activism, Martinez brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his role.
Martinez's journey with PESA traces back over a decade ago when he crossed paths with the organization's Executive Director, Seymour Amster, at Northridge Academy High School. What began as a chance encounter blossomed into a profound friendship, built on shared values and a commitment to improving the lives of others. Together, they forged a partnership that extended beyond personal bonds, advocating for various initiatives to enhance educational opportunities for youth in their community.
Throughout his extensive career, Martinez has left an indelible mark on housing advocacy, collaborating with esteemed elected officials such as Council Member Monica Rodriguez and former Council Member Alex Padilla. His efforts, particularly during the 90s, have been instrumental in providing support to low-income individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they receive the housing assistance they need to thrive.
Now, as an integral part of the PESA team, Martinez's role revolves around closing the gap between resources and community needs. Leveraging his expertise, he reaches out to schools and neighborhoods to connect students and families with the myriad of resources PESA offers. From mentorship programs to homework assistance and housing support, Martinez works passionately to ensure that everyone has access to the support they require to succeed.
Reflecting on what sets PESA apart, Martinez emphasizes the organization's unwavering dedication to providing quality care. "I am happy to join the team and to be able to connect with those who feel disconnected. This is how we’re going to build those bridges," he remarks, highlighting the importance of outreach and inclusivity in the approach.

"I love that PESA pushes for students to succeed in whatever path they choose after high school," he shares.
