GREATER KOKOMO VISITORS BUREAU
| |
Work begins on downtown hotel/conference center | |
Following the Aug. 13 groundbreaking ceremony, crews have been on site at the future home of the downtown hotel and conference center.
The project will significantly enhance the local economy and provide a state-of-the-art venue for small conventions, meetings, conferences and more. The project is a partnership between the Greater Kokomo Alliance and Visitors Bureau, the City of Kokomo, Howard County and SSG Hotels. The Kokomo Conference Center is a 55,000-square-foot facility that can accommodate events for up to 1,000 guests.
It’s a project first envisioned for downtown with a Downtown Kokomo Master Plan Update in 2013. At that time, researchers and city planners stressed that a city’s quality of life was impacted greatly by investment in an active and vibrant city center.
The master plan identified the development of a hotel and convention center as a key investment that would create a “Destination Anchor” for downtown. Such a facility would drive economic development for downtown and give visitors an instant opportunity to patronize downtown businesses.

Linked to The Future Webinar Series helps local small businesses
As a small business owner, you have to do all the things such as marketing, cybersecurity, financials, and more, and hiring people to perform these tasks might not be in the budget or personal training might be too expensive or won't provide enough help to meet your needs. That is the issue that Linked to The Future is designed to fix.
Each session is free and open to all small business owners and their staff and will feature local experts with the answers you need. Since many owners have busy schedules that prevent them from leaving the office, we have also made it into a webinar, where attendees can join virtually via Zoom without ever stepping out of the office.
