Dr. Pawl Visits Oxford!

Our own Dr. Faith Pawl (Upper School English Faculty) presented a paper at the British Society for the Philosophy of Religion Conference, hosted at Oriel College at Oxford University!

The paper, given in honor of the late philosopher, David Efird, explored resources in Jesus’ parable about the Lily of the Field for the ways we theorize about beauty in the natural world. She then attended sessions on philosophical issues around the concepts of faith and belief which gave her lots to reflect upon for sharing with her apologetics students.

She also got to visit some of the locations frequented by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, such as the Eagle and the Child pub. Oriel College, where she stayed, was home to Saint John Henry Newman prior to his conversion to Catholicism, so she also got to stop to pray in his oratory, marked with his motto: “Cor ad Cor, loquitor."

What a fantastic adventure!
