Field Trip Exposes Students to Vocational Professions

Interested ASOP high school students attended the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Craft Championships Competition in Kansas City last month.

The event featured vendors offering information on upcoming opportunities for internships and apprenticeships related to vocational professions such as plumbers, carpenters, welders and electricians.

At the same time, competitors in the Heart of America regional championship were competing to make it to the national championship in their field.

Halie, a junior at ASOP, related that the field trip was very informative. "All of my questions were answered. There were nice displays of provided trades and opportunities."

ASOP Spirit Shines!

School spirit was on full display the end of first semester as ASOP students and staff participated in STUCO's Spirit Week celebration.

  • Monday was Dress Like an Old Person Day: Middle School Coordinator and teacher Sarah is dressed to go mall walking.
  • Tuesday was Dress Like a Teacher or Student Day: Olivia poses below as her Math teacher Erica.
  • Wednesday was Holiday Attire/PJs Day.

For those students who participated, STUCO did a daily drawing for a $25 Amazon gift certificate.

Students had a chance to relax and have fun together on Wednesday during a long lunch break that included movies, snacks and games.

Diane & Abby a Registered Pet Partners Therapy Animal Team

Congratulations to ASOP Content Creator Diane and her Bernese Mountain dog Abby for successfully passing Pet Partners' in-person team evaluation!

Diane and Abby are now a registered therapy animal team with that organization, and have met all the requirements of ASOP's Therapy Dog Program.

Look for furry paws to hit the ground at ASOP with the start of second semester!
