October 31-November 4, 2022
This week we look at the scriptures for All Saints Sunday. Martin Luther said it so correctly when he said that we were both saints and sinners at the same time. Thank God that, in holy baptism, God makes saints out of sinners and, in holy communion, God forgives the sins of all the saints.

Daniel 7:1-3, 15-18
Daniel’s vision of the four beasts proclaims that human kings will come and go, but the kingdom will ultimately belong to God and to God’s people.

Prayer: Thank you God for giving us the Kingdom of heaven. May our lives reflect your Kingdom values and love every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ephesians 1:11-23
As children of God, we live “for the praise of his glory.” We do so because have been marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit and filled with faith in the Lord Jesus.

Prayer: Help us today, O God, to understand your wisdom, hope, and power that is embodied in Jesus Christ in whose name we pray. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 6:20-31
In echoes of the prophet Isaiah and Mary’s song of praise, Jesus reveals surprising things about who enjoys blessing and who endures woe. He invites his disciples to shower radical love, blessing, forgiveness, generosity, and trust even on enemies and outsiders. (Sundays and Seasons)

Prayer: Help us to see all people as your children, O God, and to treat them with respect and love.  May no one remain a stranger to us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
