We Are Stronger Together

Why Voting Matters

Every election there is something at stake. Whether it’s a right to vote or a woman’s right to choose what to do with her own body. There is always critical legislation that is decided by those who are in power. If we do not exercise our right to vote our very basic rights are stripped away.

It can be a very challenging and complex process trying to understand laws and which candidate(s) to vote for. Do not let this stop you from going out to the polls every time there is an election. Voter suppression is happening across states and especially in areas where the population consists of people of color.

If voting didn’t matter; there wouldn’t be concentrated efforts designed to undermine your rights, incite fear, and discourage you from heading to the polls.

In elementary school we learned about the three branches of government--the legislative branch, the judicial branch, and the executive branch. No matter how old you are right now it’s OK to revisit this fundamental information in order to reacclimate yourself as to how laws are passed. We have our city government, our state government, and our federal government. Each of these institutions impact our lives daily. Who sits in these seats oftentimes determine life and death situations for our communities.

If you are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem. Take a moment today and learn about your history, your ancestry, and the value of who you are so that you understand the importance and power of your voice. Meet us at the polls on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
