Dear friends,
Our recent Heroes of Hospice event at the Rosewood Miramar was beyond successful in so many meaningful ways. We significantly surpassed our fundraising goals by raising over $300K and, in addition to that, we came together to honor our past and actively address the critical needs of our care in the years to come.
As I stood at the podium and looked across the sea of 320 faces in the ballroom, I saw so many who have been by our side from our humble beginnings, our transitions, and through our current growth and expansion. I recognized dear friends, co-workers and partners in the crowd who have committed themselves to our mission with their ideas, time, talent and financial support. And I noticed there were new faces including a younger generation eager to work with us to continue our legacy of compassion. Perhaps, more than anything, I felt the deep and enduring love of our Hospice of Santa Barbara family.
Your continued support allows us to care for anyone experiencing the impact of serious illness or grieving the death of a loved one. Thank you for bringing us closer to our $1 million goal for our Legacy of Compassion Campaign and for allowing us to continue doing what we do.
Please enjoy some photo highlights below. Photos of the event by Monie Photography are available to view here.
Be well,
David Selberg

When You Meet Someone Deep in Grief
by Patricia McKernon Runkle
| |
|
Slip off your needs
and set them by the door.
Enter barefoot
this darkened chapel.
Hollowed by loss
Hallowed by sorrow
its gray stone walls and floor.
You, congregation of one
are here to listen
not to sing.
Kneel in the back pew.
Make no sound,
let the candles speak.
