Still Waters Adult Day Center News & Updates
Still Waters Adult Day Center is a person centered, faith based, and activity rich center for our seniors. We provide a safe place Monday - Friday for seniors to engage with other seniors to encourage social, emotional, and physical well-being.
PRESS PAUSE
"Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us."
- Hal Borland
As we close out 2023 it is time to press pause as we reflect on this past year. I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of our accomplishments and take a moment to reflect on some guests that will always have a special place at Still Waters.
This past year we had over 69 local organizations, companies, churches, and volunteers provide special programming to our guests. These programs support our guests social and emotional well-being, lowers levels of depression, supports friendships, and lowers stress levels. We are so fortunate to have such a great community that brings us so much love weekly!
We had over 180 individuals join us in our various events. We started the year off with our 6 months 'Preparing to Grow Old' series, then we offered a discussion on vaccines while we offered 2 separate vaccine clinics. This winter we began our mindful meditation 6-week series, and just began a new coffee and conversation support group for families impacted by grief.
We were blessed to receive nearly $135,000 in grants this year. Thanks to Kroger, IAADS, US Aging, Veteran Affairs, Braveheart Foundation, AARP, Indiana Arts Commission, Central Indiana Community Foundation- Senior Fund, Summer Youth Program Fund, Indianapolis Foundation, Women's Fund, and the Downtown Optimist Foundation.

We received over $36,000 from our amazing donors! Thanks to everyone that supported us this year! Your generosity means everything to us and our seniors we serve.

We served 48 guests over this last year. We currently have 32 guests enrolled. We would like to offer our condolences to our Still Waters families that lost their loved one this past year.

In Memory:

Downtown Optimist Foundation
Thanks to the Downtown Optimist Club for supporting our intergenerational programming with CUMNS Kids. During the summer the Summer Youth Program Fund provided support to offer programming 3 times a week and we saw so many benefits from this experience. The young children developed greater social acceptance and increased respect, compassion and empathy. We saw improved quality of life, cognitive health improvement and decrease social isolation in the seniors. With the continued support from the Optimist Club, we can extend this program into the new year! Both the youth and seniors experienced reduced ageism and age discrimination, improved mental, physical and cognitive health, and a greater sense of belonging and connection to their community with this opportunity.

Community Partners - Serve360º
For this year's annual gift-wrapping fundraiser, we were partnered with Community Health Network Serve360º. We had 49 community health network employees volunteer their time to gift wrap, build storage units, organize our panty, socialize with our guests, and assist with cleaning!
Thank you for everyone's support for another successful fundraiser! We wrapped over 400 gifts and raised almost $1,000! Thank you for helping support our mission for providing the best day services to our seniors!
