GGUSD Highlights Criminal Justice and Education Career Pathways

Each week, GGUSD showcases our outstanding CTE programs that provide intermediate and high school students with hundreds of engaging courses in 14 Career Pathways that focus on the real-world skills needed for high-paying, in-demand future careers (Goal 3).

In case you missed it, watch our State of the District video to learn more about our accomplishments over the past year. Hear from GGUSD staff, students and families about our success equipping all students with the academic skills (Goal 1) and personal skills (Goal 2) for lifelong success (Goal 3). This is one video you don't want to miss.

GGUSD Invites Community to Art Exhibit and Art in the Park Event

GGUSD will host its 46th annual First Impressions Student Art Exhibit on Saturday, March 9 to celebrate the artwork of hundreds of student artists of all ages from across the district. The community is invited to view the artwork which will be showcased in a gallery hosted at the Garden Grove Courtyard Center and to attend Art in the Park, an interactive art festival hosted by the City of Garden Grove, in conjunction with GGUSD, at Village Green Park for the entire community to enjoy. The events take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 12732 Main Street in Garden Grove. The art gallery will also be open Monday, March 11 through Thursday, March 14 from 8:00am - 8:00pm for public viewing.


Art in the Park activities include ceramics demonstrations, ukulele lessons, do-it-yourself crafts, and the Art Car, an opportunity to paint a classic car. Art in the Park will also feature live performances from Bryant Elementary Arts Academy’s Rock Band, La Quinta High School’s vocal ensemble and concert choir, and Pacifica High School’s Commercial Music Group. Attendees can also view a temporary art installation including a 50-foot “Re:IMAGINE” banner and 20 outdoor, oversized easels displaying student artwork.

 

Student artists will also be recognized in a special awards ceremony hosted for students and their families at the Garden Grove Community Center for PreK-6th grade at 10:00 a.m. and for 7th-12th grade students at 11:15 a.m.  

GGUSD Honors March Employees of the Month

At its meeting on Tuesday, GGUSD's Board of Education recognized our March Employees of the Month including Eisenhower Elementary School Teacher Roben Alarcon and Warehouse Supervisor Brent Duron. These two outstanding employees go above and beyond to support our students, schools, and district. #GGUSDPride Watch our video to see them in action!

Hill Elementary School Students Create Disney Magic

MAGICAL MOMENTS: Hill Elementary School students delivered a fantastic performance of Disney's Aladdin as part of the Disney Musicals in Schools program. We love seeing our students demonstrate confidence and experience a sense of belonging through this wonderful experience to shine on stage. We know participating in musical theater contributes to student well-being (Goal 2) #GGUSDPride

Dozens of GGUSD Parents Complete Leadership Program

It was a packed house at Peters Elementary School last Friday evening! Dozens of parents received a certificate for completing GGUSD's Parent Expectations Support Achievement program. We know that greater parent engagement = greater student success and we are so grateful for the participation of our wonderful GGUSD families! #GGUSDPride #GGUSDGoalGetters

Save the Date for Roadmap to Success

SAVE THE DATE: GGUSD invites students in grades 6-12 and their families to GGUSD’s Roadmap to Success event on Monday, March 11, from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Rancho Alamitos High School. Students and their families will have the opportunity to learn about college and career planning, CSU/UC and private college admission updates, financial aid and scholarships, sports recruiting, AB540 information, and strategies that can be used when filling out college applications. Additionally, special education students and their families are invited to attend the Special Education Resource Fair beginning at 4:30 p.m. and workshops on transition services, post-secondary disability services and resources for students who will be transitioning out of high school. Workshops will be in English with interpretation in Spanish and Vietnamese. Interpretation support will also be available in Korean and Arabic. Childcare will be provided for children ages 2-10.
