Mobilizing family farmers, fishers, and ranchers for fair prices, vibrant communities, and healthy foods free of corporate domination.

Take Action Today!

Over the past few years, the USDA has made progress on new rules that would strengthen and update the Packers & Stockyards Act, a critical pro-competition law designed to protect family-scale livestock producers and consumers from unfair, deceptive practices by dominant firms in the sector.

The first of these rules, titled "Transparency in Poultry Grower Contracting and Tournaments", went into effect this week on Monday, February 12.

Opponents of fair, competitive markets are attacking this important work and seeking to hamper future progress! The most recent version of the Fiscal Year 2024 House Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration Appropriations bill includes dangerous language that would roll back all progress that USDA has already made on this issue, stop the USDA from continuing this work, and prevent similar future efforts. We cannot allow this to happen!

Appropriations discussions are happening now! Take action today and ask your legislators to OPPOSE any language included in the 2024 Appropriations bill that would prevent the USDA from writing, finalizing, or implementing rules under the Packers and Stockyards Act.
