President's Message

by Max Duplant, CPA

Here we are in December; arguably, the busiest month of the year. Filled with holiday preparations and festivities, most of us find our December calendars bulging with activity. At TXCPA Dallas, our December is much like yours. Between classes, committee meetings, scheduled events and planning for those coming up, this month is overflowing!

December is great for continuing professional education at the Chapter. December 8, the Business & Industry Committee’s Accounting Professionals CPE Series will feature Aaron Borden, Grant Thornton partner, speaking on Beneficial Ownership Reporting, and Gregg Ballew of UTD discussing the role of the Board in enterprise risk management. This class will be held tomorrow, but there’s still time to register, so act now. On December 14, Giles Pearson, co-founder of Accountests Ltd., will teach us how to Hire Fast with Confidence in Public Accounting in a virtual Lunch & Learn event. Looking ahead to January, you’ll want to mark your calendar for January 10 when our next Member Appreciation CPE Series event will take place at The Clubs of Prestonwood just prior to our Annual Meeting.

On December 11, we look forward to seeing you at Park City Club for the Dallas Chapter Holiday Party. This TXCPA Dallas tradition is one of our most popular social events. The beautifully appointed venue will sparkle, the refreshments will be delicious and plentiful, and the company will delight you. I hope you’ll come and be a part of it.

December will mark the opening of registration for Convergence 2024, which will be held this year at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel downtown. We will announce the registration opening soon, and we anticipate a high volume of response, so watch your inbox and enroll early to take advantage of our special Early Bird pricing and guarantee your space for this event you won’t want to miss.

This month we introduce our slate of 2024-25 TXCPA Dallas leadership nominees, which you’ll find elsewhere in this edition. Voting to confirm these outstanding members will take place at the Annual Meeting of Members on January 10 at The Clubs of Prestonwood.

As this year draws to a close, on behalf of TXCPA Dallas, let me thank you for your continued participation and support. Together, we’ve made it a great year. Let’s go forward now into an even better 2024!

Happy Holidays to you and yours!
