Weekly Director Letter 07/08/2022
Dear Parents,

This week our travelers ages 4 and under visited North America in honor of the 4th of July holiday. I hope you love the projects that came home in celebration of July 4th. The children worked really hard on them.

Our children in our elementary program performed air and water experiments as well as experimenting with marble runs.

Many parents have asked about our school calendar for the fall. If you click on this link you will see it on our website. Parents will also get a hard copy at back to school time. You will notice it mirrors the Miami Dade Schools calendar for the most part. You will see however that they start the school year on a Wednesday. We thought that would be a hardship for families so we have started on a Monday and are taking 2 less teacher planning days. By doing this, our school year will end one week earlier. Also note, we are open on the "Teacher Planning Days". When they are noted in Grey on our calendar, it means we are open, but attendance for our VPK and K-1 kids are optional are NON INSTRUCTIONAL days.

Please note on the calendar the green and yellow days that the school is closed. Be sure to mark your calendar for Friday, August 12th. We are closed to prepare for the new school year. Also please SAVE THE DATE: Saturday August 14th will be our back to school orientation. Times for each classes will be announced soon. This is the only day that parents are permitted in the classrooms for the orientation.

Click here to view the calendar, you will get a hard copy at our back to school event.

As mentioned in a prior letter, we will need to raise our fees a little bit to support staff pay increases as well and increased food and materials costs worldwide. New families please note the slight increase from when you first enrolled. These small increases are unavoidable.

To support our initiative to save trees, you will not get a hard copy, but you can always refer to it here. In weeks to come, you will be asked to sign a copy of it as your new fee agreement. The exact document you will sign is the one listed on the link.

Finally, we will be doing some reorganization in the office. In weeks to come you will meet Miss Nisha. She is currently working on her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood education. She is currently subbing in some of our rooms. As of August 1, you will see her in the mornings from 7:30-2:30 at the front door and working in the office.

You will also notice Miss Murielle taking a more active role in the office. Murielle has been with us for 16 years so she is familiar with all the aspects of the school. She is also going to be working on her Director Credential for days that I may be out of the school. She will be in the office in the afternoon when Nisha leaves. Starting September when Green Door reopens, she will be in Green Door until 2:30, then in the office until closing. Murielle will also assist in checking lesson plans to make sure they are developmentally appropriate as our curriculum specialist.

Miss Miriam Solomon will lead the administrative team daily from 8:00-3:00. Should you need any assistance, we have plenty of people waiting to help!

Have a wonderful weekend,
Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
