Every life saved begins with you!

As the holiday season nears a close, our shelter team is brimming with appreciation for all the donors who’ve made a gift helping us nearly reach our $50,000 holiday goal.

There is still time to make a holiday donation. Your tax-deductible gift gives special dogs and cats like Button and Lacey a second chance.

Button was found hunkered down, thoroughly drenched outside the shelter. The rain was coming down so fast that puddles were forming in the parking lot. He was huddled under a car, his paws in standing water, when a clinic client spotted him and alerted the staff.

Being the “smart, loving boy he is,” he just came out from under the car and let the staff carry him inside past the lobby full of excited dogs waiting for their vaccines. Once safe inside a cat carrier, the staffer asked, “Is anyone missing an orange cat?” With no one answering, she went outside to find the “owner,” but no one was there.

A few minutes later, he entered the computer system as “abandoned on the property.” In just a few days, he was fully vaccinated, neutered, and on his way home with a loving family. They recently shared, “We genuinely appreciate your commitment to ensuring homeless or hurting animals get the care and love they deserve. Buttons settled in very nicely!”

  • Donations paid for his ear cleaning and parasite treatment.
  • Donations paid for his vaccinations.
  • Donations paid for neutering.

Lacey came to WCHS as a stray. She was spotted in a church parking lot with a noticeable limp. She didn’t have any outward signs of being hit by a car, but her paw was swollen, and she had gnawed it raw. Some suspect she stepped on something sharp or may have had a “brush” with a leg trap. The staff arranged for an X-ray at a local veterinary hospital and tended to her paw. No one ever came to claim her.  Slowly, the swelling decreased, and she was ready to run and play by the time her “stray time” was up. That’s when a family came in and fell in love with her beautiful brown eyes. Lacey loves her new home!

Like so many animals that arrive at our doors, we will never know how they found themselves injured and alone. What we know is that we are so thankful to our donors for helping dogs like Lacey.

  • Donations paid for the X-ray to rule out a broken bone.
  • Donations paid for her paw to be wrapped and cared for.
  • Donations paid for her vaccines, heartworm treatment, and 14 days of food and shelter.

Your year-end donation can transform the lives of animals. Your support is a lifeline. Our doors and hearts are wide open every day, affirming the belief that every animal- regardless of age, health, or circumstances – is deserving of a second chance.

Every life we save begins with you.
