WKU hosting special events this week
Here's a reminder for the campus community about several special events this week at WKU:
NPHC Facility
The National Pan-Hellenic Council will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday for the NPHC Facility at 1566 Normal St. The ceremony will include remarks from President Timothy C. Caboni and NPHC President TJ Fleming. A reception and open house will follow.
Honoring Jonesville
The Honoring Jonesville: Our People, Our Community, Our Legacy event from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kentucky Museum will feature the What Happened to Jonesville? exhibit and reception. Remarks begin at 5 p.m.
Munday Hall
WKU will hold a dedication ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Friday for Munday Hall, named after the university’s first African American undergraduate student.
Homecoming
WKU is celebrating Homecoming this week with a Nightmare on Normal Street theme.
CLIMBING HIGHER
The WKU Soil Judging Team placed fifth at the Southeast Regional Soil Judging Contest held October 20 at Clemson, South Carolina. Team members are (from left): Kayla Ward, Charlee Webster, Laney Newton, Shayla Lile, Lauren Payne and Andrew Haycraft. Learn More
Provost's Message: 2022 United Way Campaign
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

WKU has been a proud supporter of United Way of Southern Kentucky for more than 30 years, and we are grateful to have our partnership continue for the 2022-2023 campaign. Together we have supported our neighbors in times of crisis during a global pandemic, after a deadly tornado and through the daily circumstances that quickly create need.  Your generous support changes lives in your community through programs impacting Education, Income (Financial Stability), Health, and Safety Net needs.
Spotlight: Symphony Concert
The WKU Symphony will present its Eighth Annual Halloween Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Van Meter Hall. All tickets are $12.
Novelist Stevens featured at 26th annual Celebration of Writing
Bowling Green novelist Courtney “Court” Stevens will be the featured guest reader at the 26th annual Mary Ellen and Jim Wayne Miller Celebration of Writing at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cherry Hall, Room 125. Stevens, a former adjunct professor, youth minister, Olympic torchbearer, and bookseller, will read from her new novel, We Were Kings.
MHC Scholars host Fall 2022 Deliberative Dialogues
Honors 251 Citizen and Self students at WKU's Mahurin Honors College will host a series of deliberative dialogues Nov. 7 through Nov. 18. Each campus conversation will last for 45 minutes to an hour and will be in-person.
Fleischaker/Greene Award adds second recipient for 2022
The 2022 Fleischaker/Greene Award for Courageous International Reporting has added a second recipient -- Olga Rudenko and the staff of the Kyiv Independent in Ukraine. Four-time Pulitzer Prize photojournalist Carol Guzy was announced as the other recipient of the prestigious Fleischaker/Greene Award for Courageous International Reporting earlier this month. The WKU School of Media will host the 2022 award ceremony at 4 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Gary Ransdell Hall Auditorium.
WKU Regents conduct committee meetings
The Western Kentucky University Board of Regents conducted committee meetings on Friday, October 21.
