2024 Date and Location Announcement!

I'm excited to announce the next Storm Adventure Race will take place at Island Lake Conservation Area on May 25th, 2024! Island Lake is near Orangeville, Ontario and sits atop the Oak Ridges Moraine. It serves as the headwaters of the Credit River flowing south, as well as the Nottawasaga River flowing north. Also next door is Hockley Valley, filled with loads of parkland and great trails to explore. There was no shortage of terrain available to set some exciting courses for next springs event! Registration is now open with early fees in effect until January 11th, 2024. Visit the website for all the nitty gritty details!

Adventure Racing to hit the big screen next March with the release of Arthur The King!

Based on the incredible true story from the 2014 World Championships in Ecuador when Team Peak Performance of Sweden had a stray dog join them for the last 2 days of the event. Team captain Mikael Lindnord went on to adopt the pup affectionately named Arthur The King. A great mini-documentary was also produced in 2017 by ESPN. This should provide a great excuse to get together with your AR friends for a viewing party next March!

Nav for Newbs - by DONTGETLOST

For those local to the west GTA and looking for navigation training, DONTGETLOST will be providing a great new course that would set you up more then well for tackling the Storm Adventure Race. From their latest newsletter:

"Nav for Newbs is an introductory 6 week course (starting Sunday January 21st), run out of City View Park in Burlington, that provides participants with navigation skills used for the purpose of participating in adventure races and orienteering events. The purpose of this course is to teach, from the beginning, the skills necessary to confidently participate in DGL races and other similar navigation focused events.

Nav for Newbs progressively creates hands-on opportunities to learn and practice navigation skills and will, at the end of the season, cap off the program with a weekend adventure run in March."
