Bulldog Weekly: Season 2 Episode 2

Baking and Pastry Classroom Spotlight

Baking and Pastry students participated in the Great Brownie Challenge, where they took a basic box of brownie mix and elevated it with their own recipe. Students created their recipe plans, discussed the elements of food presentation, and baked and plated their brownies for the judges to sample. The brownies were judged by taste, texture, appearance, creativity, and plating/garnishing. Check out the brownies the students made!

Baking and Pastry is a dual credit class with Triton College, where students earn high school and college credit simultaneously. This course corresponds to the Triton course Culinary Mathematics. Baking and Pastry was one of 8 new dual credit courses introduced to RB in the 23-24 school year.

AP Computer Science Principles Classroom Spotlight

Students in Ms. Czajka’s AP Computer Science Principles class were tasked with creating detailed flowcharts for various dice games. Each student selected a game to analyze, read through its instructions, and then translated those directions into a flowchart. The goal was to ensure that anyone unfamiliar with the game could follow the flowchart and understand exactly how to play.

AP Computer Science Principles is one of four courses at RB that allows students to earn both AP and dual credit. This course, along with AP Computer Science A, was one of the first dual credit offerings at RB, made possible through a partnership with Loyola University.
