Dear PEP Members:

I hope you all made it through Mardi Gras and are enjoying a short break from the long holiday season we have in Mobile, Alabama! Even with all the festivities, we've been going strong with our member events, projects, and planning.

I'm pleased to report on the great support from our PEP member companies for The Eagle Reef Project! Our sponsorship levels have been added to the website and we're proud to recognize these members for their support. If your company wants to join the effort to improve our coastal waters, please complete the online form or reach out to me.

Two of our very popular events are back and quickly approaching! Our 2nd Annual PEP Sporting Clay Shoot is just over a month away and the 24th Annual Golf Tournament is set for May 10. I hope you are planning to join us to network and have fun while supporting our mission and beliefs.

It's so exciting to see our PEP member companies growing and expanding. There's been a lot of great news from you all! If you have any news or updates we can help share, let us know! Please send them to myself (jdenson@pepmobile.org) or Lindsey (lindsey@pepmobile.org) so we can promote the great initiatives and work you are doing.

As always, if you need anything, please reach out. I hope to see you at our upcoming events!

AUSTAL USA EXPANDS MANUFACTURING CAPACITY WITH DESIGN FOR NEW FACILITY AND SHIPLIFT

Austal USA announced the start of design for a new manufacturing facility, part of a major expansion for its shipyard in Mobile. It will sit south of Austal’s current waterfront facility and include a new assembly building, waterfront improvements and a new shiplift system. To begin this summer, it will also include a shiplift that will launch ships as they are completed in the assembly buildings. The system will also enable retrieving ships and bringing them back to the land-side facility. Read more about this exciting new expansion.

RANSOM EXPANDS ELECTRONICS RECYCLING

Ransom Recycling of Chickasaw has announced it will soon be the only local organization recycling electronics. United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile (UCP), which also had an electronics recycling operation, has decided to discontinue its operation to focus more on its other programs. Ransom Recycling will be providing services for its existing accounts and customers and is adding UCP’s electronics recycling employees to its team.

Ransom Recycling has been in operation since 2015. It was founded by nonprofit Ransom Ministries shortly after beginning its Ransom ReProgram employment social enterprise. The two programs, it says, “realized the need for participants to be able to rapidly attach to a job and have a source of income.”
