November is Stewardship Month

November marks the time of Stewardship, when we ask members and friends to think about their plans to support the operation of Trinity in the coming year. Members of our community are very generous, sharing their financial resources, their talents, and their time in support of the mission of our church. It helps us to know how people plan to share their gifts with Trinity. The information informs our collective planning: setting our Operational budget and deciding on project priorities for the coming year.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll introduce this year’s theme: “From Bread and Cup to Faith and Giving”. As you review the materials provided, please consider how you can contribute to our church’s ongoing mission. Stewardship Sunday is November 13.

- Scott Peterson, Financial Secretary and Operations Committee
November 6 - Leaf Raking
On the first Sunday of November, plan to get an extra hour of sleep (Daylight Savings Time ends). Then bring your rakes and work gloves to church and we will clean up the grounds after worship. Light snacks will be provided.

Contact Todd Kerschke if you additional have questions.
Casa Central
As we notice the sudden appearance of Halloween lawn displays and what looks like an acre of pumpkins on the yard at St. Gregory’s, it’s time for us to plan dates for one of our regular outreach projects.

Our largest project is the Wrapped Gifts for the children of Casa Central. I think our capability is to provide at least thirty gifts, which represents just a bit less than half of the requested number of sixty-three. As in the past, the suggested cost limit is $25.00.

We will collect our gifts for two weeks, Sunday November 20th and November 27. I will plan to deliver them the morning of the designated date, December 2.

Trinity's long-term Mission Project
As we all have heard, food pantries are experiencing a significant increase in the number of families who depend on local pantries as their primary source of food.

After some deliberation, and prayer, I am suggesting that Trinity United Church of Christ expand our annual program of collecting canned and dry foods for the West Deerfield Township Pantry from a few weeks’ duration to a continuous ministry.

The collection bin is in the Gathering Hall, with identifying signage. We will make a once-a-month delivery to the West Deerfield Township Pantry. The quantity, on a monthly basis, may not be as large as our once-a-year amount, but our goal is to assist the WDT Pantry maintain a more stable inventory, and have the ‘best-used-by date’ be more current.
