Dear Residents –
It’s that time of year again, the end of Daylight Saving Time, which means it is time to turn your clocks back. So, before you go to bed on Saturday night, remember to set your clock back one hour and enjoy that extra sleep on Sunday morning.
It’s also time when the Orangetown Leaf Removal Program is in full swing. The Orangetown Highway Department flyer is filled with information about the program, including when they expect to be in your area for curbside pickup and how to correctly pile leaves. And, if you don’t want to wait, it contains a little known fact about a “coupon” for residents to give their private lawn contractor free admission to the Town Drop Off Center for leaf disposal. For more information, see below or click here.
Or, you may want to consider a “Leave the Leaves” approach to dealing with fallen leaves, as there are many environmental benefits to doing so. To start, decomposed leaves contain natural nutrients that will strengthen your soil, grass and gardens. For those not ready to go completely hands off, consider chopping or mulching leaves where they lay to create a finer layer of leaf litter or rake them into existing garden or mulch beds. To learn more about the benefits, click here.
It’s also time for the Nyack Center to host its Legacy Gala. I am thrilled to be attending and to congratulate my friends Kenyatta Jones-Arietta and Rudy Arietta, and the Rotary Club of Nyack, for being honored this year. It could not go to more deserving honorees! Tickets are still available here and, just think, you have an extra hour to sleep the next morning.
Next Friday, November 11, is Veterans Day and there are many ceremonies taking place around Orangetown. Please consider attending one or more of the events listed below and help show our veterans just how much we all appreciate them.
The weekend promises more beautiful weather so get out and enjoy it while you can!
Regards,
