A Note From Our Chief Executive Officer |
Dear friend of 4Cs,
February is a busy time. A month of celebrations and opportunities to gather with family and friends with Black History Month, Lunar New Year, Mardis Gras, the Superbowl, Valentine’s Day, and President’s Day all on the calendar. Between the festivities, 4Cs staff have been busy filling 4Cs’ February calendar with more than two dozen playgroups, trainings, and events for our community of families and child care providers in this short month while continuing to enroll families in child care payment assistance programs, provide free tax preparation and filing services, and the many other programs and services we offer. As we navigate a jam-packed February, be sure to keep up with everything going on by following 4Cs of Alameda County on Facebook, Instagram, and X – from our football festivities to playgroup snapshots, our team is committed to keeping you updated this very busy month and every month.
Be well,
Renee S. Herzfeld

Facilitators, Strength in Connections

"Our mission and common purpose aligns wonderfully with 4Cs of Alameda County! We are honored to to be part of the conversation and thankful to be in community with 4Cs and the incredible parents and caregivers who attend the Strength in Connections series!"
For many years, Black Women in Early Childhood Collective, Inc. (BWECC)’s CEO Crystal McClendon-Gourdine, Ph.D. and other BWECC members have worked alongside 4Cs staff and CEO Renee Herzfeld as close colleagues and partners in the ECE work. When the agency received funding from Kaiser Permanente to support a series for families about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and thriving through trauma, BWECC stepped up to partner in developing curriculum and facilitating Strength in Connections: Thriving Through Stress, Adversity, and Trauma. As Strength in Connections for Spanish-Speaking families starts up again soon (registration is open now here), BWECC shares “as vanguards for children and families of color, BWECC is honored to engage families in authentic dialogue about the adverse experiences endured by their children and communities everyday!” If you would like to learn more about the Black Women in Early Childhood Collective, visit bwecc.com.
