Intro to Cottage Food Law Agriculture & Stewardship Workshop

with Alabama Cooperative Extension System Food Safety Specialist Kristin Woods

We all know someone who makes the best something - whether it's pound cake, berry preserves, or snickerdoodles. Learn how to make these talents work for you at our Oct. 28 Intro to Cottage Food Law Ag & Stewardship Workshop, 9 – 10 a.m. at the Pike Road Agriculture, Recreation & Performing Arts Park (6281 Trotman Rd). This is a free event, but registration is required.

The Cottage Food Law allows Alabamians to prepare nonhazardous foods at their homes and sell them directly to consumers with an up-to-date food safety certification. This workshop, presented in partnership with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, will cover:

  • The products that can be sold under the Alabama Cottage Foods Law
  • Labeling and testing requirements
  • Special food safety considerations when producing food in a home kitchen
  • How to obtain an Alabama Cottage Foods Permit

This workshop is perfect for youth and adults interested in starting a home-based food business, as well as anyone already producing food from home who wants to learn how to do so legally.

This is a free event, but registration is required. Please click the link below to register!

Intro to Cottage Food Law is the October installation of the 2022 Agriculture & Stewardship Seminar Series. This event is presented in partnership by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and the Town of Pike Road's Ag & Stewardship Club, an ENHANCE initiative committee.
