Arrival
Next week please give yourself plenty of time when headed to campus as we anticipate traffic patterns to be very heavy. Please review the campus map carefully. Students can be dropped off at the drop-off zone between the Parking Garage and Bus Lane. Sidewalks are paved all along S. Rice and Maple so that students can walk up to the school. Students may enter the building through the three entrances marked on the map. After 8:40 am the only entrance students will be able to enter through is the Main Street entrance located off the bus drive.

Parents, please do not attempt to pull into the parking garage to drop off a student. Parking in the garage is by permit only.

Dismissal
Students may exit the building through any door on campus. Dismissal is at 4:10 pm. Please arrange a pickup location with your child prior to drop off.
Advocacy Room Assignments
All students will report to their Advocacy first thing Monday morning, August 22. Doors to the building will open by 8:10 am. Room assignments will be posted Sunday on our website. Students will be given their schedule in Advocacy.
Cardinal Hour and Lunch
Bellaire's Campus will be closed during Cardinal Hour Aug. 22- Sept. 2. All students should plan to bring their lunch or a meal will be provided from the cafeteria. Home lunch permits will continue to be processed during this time period.
2022-2023 Bell Schedule
Above is our published Bell Schedule. The first day of school students will be following an Altered Schedule that will be posted once Advocacy dismisses. Please note that the passing periods are now seven (7) minutes.
Back to School Reminders
  • Our teachers and staff are thrilled to have welcome everyone back on campus.
  • We recommend bringing your lunch the first week of school if possible. Students will have one less thing to figure out and be able to simply find their "spot" to eat. We will have a hot lunch available for any student in our Main Street Commons or in the Cardinal's Nest Cafe on the first floor of the new academic wing (Rm 1728).
  • Every student will wear an idea. ID pictures were taken at Back to School Check-In and ID's will be distributed to students. We know that it will take time to put our ID policy into effect, but we will actively be working to do so.
  • Students should be sure and review our Dress Code policy to ensure that they are in compliance with school expectations.
  • The new building does not have lockers. Students will carry their laptops and books or use a backpack.
  • The Parking Garage is Permit Parking Only
  • The day will be hectic and crowded as that is what the first day is like every year. We have a plan and things will get better so patience is important.
Laptop Fee Payment
Students that did not pick up laptops during back to school check-in will follow the steps below to have their laptop checked out to them next week.

Location: Ralphy’s Room (1703)

Tuesday, August 23 – Thursday, August 25

  1. Students turn in forms/payments during lunch (Cardinal Hour) – Receive printed receipt to bring back after school
  2. Students return with their printed receipt to pick up the laptop

ID Pictures - New System!
We are excited to roll out our new Student ID system! Students are encouraged to check their HISD email and follow the directions to upload their choice of ID picture. Guidelines:
  • Pictures should be a simple headshot
  • Plain background
  • No hats or sunglasses
  • No hand gestures or signs
All pictures will be screened and approved before an ID is printed. Students are encouraged to submit their pictures now so that all ID badges will be ready for pick-up during Back to School Check-In. Please note that all students will be required to wear their Student ID this year and for it to be visible.

When looking in email, students should search for an email sent from CardExchange Cloud or Aurora. The subject line is “Your account has been created.” and was sent to students accounts on August 4th. Students that enrolled after August 4 will submit their information to their Advocacy Teacher on Monday, Aug. 22 and a account will be created for them.

We know that it is going to take time to have 100% of our IDs printed and distributed from our new system.

If you have a question or encounter a problem uploading your picture, please email [email protected].

We are Looking for a Golf Cart!
As you dig around your garage or help a friend declutter, keep an eye out for a usable golf cart that could find a new home within the Bellaire parking garage. Your treasure could help us supervise around campus as we near the completion of our 2012 construction project. We look forward to hearing from you via email Mr. Lloyd.

Home Lunch Permits
Juniors and Seniors can now submit applications for Home Lunch Permits. Click here to submit an application.

Once a Home Lunch Permit is submitted, the Assistant Principal will check the student's academic/discipline status and verify permission with the parent. Students should monitor their HISD email for an approval notice from their Assistant Principal. Once approved students will receive an ID that indicates that they can leave campus during Cardinal Hour. A student must show their ID to leave campus.

Bellaire's campus will be closed for the first two weeks of school. Home lunch passes will not go into effect until September 6. All students should plan to bring their lunch or a meal will be provided by the cafeteria.
Course Change Requests
Course Change Requests are made online. Counselors are processing a large number of requests at this time. Beginning next week requests should be processed in approximately 48 hours. Please do not submit your request multiple times as that slows down the process.

Reasons a schedule change form should be completed:
  • A class is missing or repeated
  • A class you took in summer school or another semester is on your schedule.
  • A required core class (English, Math, Science or Social Studies) is missing.
  • The class level is not correct, for example, you wanted to be in an AP class and you are in an Academic level class.
Reasons you should not submit a schedule change:
  • Requesting a different teacher
  • Requesting your classes be in a different order.
  • You want to be in a class with a friend

Parking Garage Lottery - Seniors
Seniors that entered the parking lottery were notified via their HISD email address today about the status of their application.

Students that received a notice that they had been selected for a parking space must present a signed contract, a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a car to be issued a permit. The spots are non-transferrable. Students may not give or sell their spot to anyone. If a student declines a spot, it will be given to someone on the waiting list. Students that won spots need to follow the directions in the email that they received to claim their spot August 15-26th. (Updated dates)
