SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH- Advent Begins!

Advent Festival

Around the Parish

Sunday school for all ages 9:30 (meet in Parish Hall if you or your child don’t know where to go)

Thank you to those of you who graciously donated your time and items for our Trunk (Table) or Treat event last night! We received donations from our parishioners and The Clemson Panhellenic. We had 17 tables with EDS teachers and staff, Canterbury students and parishioners hosting. We also had a family from St. Andrews Catholic Church that participated with us! I could not have done this without everyone’s support. The turnout was amazing. We estimate we welcomed close to 75 or more kids.

Our youth event was also successful. Holy Trinity played host to 40 to 50 youth for a fun Halloween themed evening. Thank you to Bill P. for manning the grill an assisting in cleanup afterward.

Hold on to your calendars because we are full of lots of happenings between now and Christmas! Our youth and families enjoy becoming involved with our community. We have slated several service projects through the end of this year.

Currently, we are collecting items to assemble “hygiene kits” to donate to CCC and others within our community. Needed items are gallon zip lock baggies, new socks, new gloves, travel deodorant, travel toothpaste, travel soap. We can use the complimentary hotel items if you have a stash of those! Keowee Family Dentistry graciously donated over 100 toothbrushes for our use with this project. You may drop off these items all week at the church office or bring them with you Sunday morning. We will continue to accept these items throughout the year. *Schedule chang: we will be organizing and assembling these hygiene kits on Sunday, 11/6 during the Sunday school hour (9:30am) in the Parish Hall. We will not gather from 5-7pm as previously scheduled. Anyone wishing to participate in this project is welcomed to join us during this time.

Buy your spaghetti dinner tickets starting this Sunday, November 6 after each service and during the breakfast hour, find one of our awesome youth to purchase your ticket. *Cash or Check at time of ticket purchase. You can choose to dine in or have a to go box for pick up. Dine in will have beverage included. Jerae needs youth to help sell Spaghetti Dinner tickets after both services and during breakfast.

November 6 will be All Saints' Sunday, which is a Principal Feast of the church. It is also a First Sunday, which means our 10:30 service will feature an abbreviated Liturgy of the Word, including a children's sermon. Our children's choir will also sing. The First Sunday Sermon is designed especially for the purpose of encouraging parents to bring their children to church so that we can all worship together. We will have our regular Rite One services at 8:00 am at Holy Trinity and at 5:00 pm at St. Paul's.

THANK YOU- THANK YOU- THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the Holy

Trinity Bazaar and Artisan Market. What a special time for all of us who have

worked all year long on making things for this day! The companionship, friends

and good times shared all added up to a wonderful day at Holy Trinity. There are

so many people who worked together; the booth workers, the cooks, young

people who served, set up crew, publicity people, vendors, clean up helpers, and

treasurers, to help make this a success. Our sincere thanks to you all.

Carolyn Wheeler and Sally Morrell

Clemson Community Care will begin our annual Holiday Food Drive on November 7. We will be giving holiday food to our clients in November and December. We will be needing lots of turkeys! As in previous years, you may purchase turkeys at our local Ingles, Publix, and Food Lion stores and they will hold the turkeys for CCC and we will pick them up. Of course, you may also bring the turkeys to Clemson Community Care Mon-Thurs from 9 AM -Noon. We are also in need of the following food items: canned potatoes, vegetables, canned meats, tuna, salmon, 2 lb bags of sugar, 2 lb bags of flour, cereal, jelly, shelf stable milk, cooking oil, pasta sauce, and soup. Non-food items in short supply are shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap or body wash, paper towels, laundry detergent and dish detergent. Especially during this time of year, we see a greater need for donations due to the many clients coming to us for holiday food for their families. We greatly appreciate your continuing support for Clemson Community Care!

Secret Santa Angels by December 9th Family Promise is housing two families in their program this Christmas, and Christmas is just around the corner. They have asked participating congregations to prayerfully consider helping them fulfill their two families’ Christmas wish lists this year. Would you be willing to help? Please look over the lists and call or email Leigh Kennemore, Family Promise Case Manager, to let her know which child or adult you would like to be Secret Santa for this Christmas. Click here to see the families’ Christmas lists. Leigh Kennemore can be reached at (864) 644-8828; the gifts need to be at Family Promise of Pickens County by Dec 9th. This date will give them time to complete any wrapping and also to make sure that they have each family member covered for Christmas. If you are unable to bring your gifts to Family Promise yourself, let Leigh know when you talk to her, and she will make arrangements to have them picked up. Family Promise of Pickens County truly appreciates your contributions. Without you, they couldn’t continue the life-giving work they do.

Appeal for Funds for St. Paul’s Renovation/Painting Project Several months ago, we celebrated the 200th anniversary of St. Paul’s Church in Pendleton. Often referred to as our “mother” church, this beautiful, historic place is an important part of our parish life, ministry, and outreach to the community. St. Paul’s is now in dire need of a major renovation to its exterior, and we are seeking financial contributions to fund this effort. We need to remove multiple layers of paint applied over the last 200 years, repaint the exterior in its entirety, and repair and reseal the windows. We have been quoted $140,000 for the entire job, which is slated to begin this fall and be completed in the spring. We are seeking grants and diocesan assistance, but your help is also needed in order for us to undertake this much-needed project. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. Checks may be made out to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with St. Paul’s Renovation in the memo line. If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact Mtr. Suz Cate or Mary Lou Sigsby, chairperson for the St. Paul’s Committee of Holy Trinity.

Breakfast Team Members Needed! Breakfast Teams prepare, serve, and clean up after our weekly Sunday breakfasts. Each team serves once a month during the school year. There are four established teams who could use another set of hands. Team cooking is tons of fun and a great way to get to know your HT friends better. Please contact Bill Purkerson or Vanessa Apicello in the church office if you would be interested in joining a team or just checking it out one Sunday.

Need a Ride to Church? please contact Serena Dubose and she will make arrangements.
