All are invited to the Mathematical Art Exhibition in the Music Building Faculty Dining Room to celebrate the exceptional creativity and talent of Lehman students. Robert Torigoe '18 interned at Lincoln Center Education while a Lehman undergrad and continued there part time while obtaining an MFA in Hawaii. His next position at Lincoln Center was Education Coordinator, and last month he was appointed Education Initiatives Manager. He's another a great example of what Lehman students and alumni are achieving!

Bronx Institute Nets $25,000 Grant 

The Bronx Institute's ENLACE program received a $25,000 grant for the 2024 school year from Con Edison, a long-time funder of the educational nonprofit based at Lehman College. The Bronx Institute Executive Director Professor Herminio Martinez shared his sentiments:

"We are deeply grateful to Con Edison for their steadfast dedication to ENLACE. This grant will allow us to recruit a fresh cohort of ENLACE scholars and help guide them through the challenges that lie ahead."

Communication and Transfers

Diverse reports that communication is key in enabling community college students to succeed in transferring to a four-year institution. CUNY and Lehman College's successful endeavors to do just this are cited as examples.

Science is Delicious: STEP students spent a Saturday in Lehman's kitchen lab learning how to bake a seasonal treat–pumpkin bread. Recent graduate of Nutrition and Dietary Sciences Ang Lama taught students the science behind cooking and then students enjoyed their tasty creations. (Photo by Paulina Mohamed-Ocasio) 

Bowled Over: Provost Jorge Silva-Puras was one of the many happy customers who supported last week's Art Department Pottery Sale. He shared a photo of a few beautiful finds.

Falling: Alison Abreu created an artful image when she accidentally took a photo of the hexagonal pavers along College Walk in the sunshine.

Composed: Professor Edward Kennelly took a more deliberate approach with these photographs of a yellow tree on the quad.

"Today was an especially beautiful day on campus, with blue skies, vibrant fall colors, a terrific lecture by Professor Deirdre O’Boy, and a well-crafted café au lait at Harmony Café."
