Greetings Rondout Family, Friends and Faculty.
Hope you are enjoying the taste of Spring this week. There have been several notices that were sent out today regarding a case of Strep and COVID. The frequency of these illnesses in the county has not diminished much so we ask that you remain vigilant about monitoring symptoms and following through with your medical providers. We continue to maintain our cleaning and sanitation protocols and air filtering.
Tomorrow is the last day to RSVP for the Annual Upper School Dance. Rondout students in grades 6,7 and 8 are invited to participate. There will be snacks, a photo booth, and a terrific professional DJ. DJ Chicken Wangs was our DJ last year and the students loved him. The dance is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday February 9th.
Rondout’s Family Reading Night is on Thursday February 15th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. There will be activities and a spaghetti dinner. Families must RSVP by Friday February 9th so we can have enough supplies, materials, and Spaghetti ready for the evening. This is a family activity which begins at 5:30 p.m. with check-in, games and table activities followed by a sit-down dinner. An adult must accompany students, and we encourage families to attend as a unit. Please contact the office with questions.
As part of the fun for Family Reading Night, Mrs. Jacob and some staff mystery readers have created a series of videos that are being sent out each day until Family Reading Night. Try to guess who the readers are, submit your guesses and those families who identify the greatest number of masked readers will win a prize.
The readers behind the masks will be revealed at Family Reading Night.
Don’t forget to check out the information regarding the Taste of India taking place on February 27th and 28th. We are still accepting.
volunteers for the fashion show. Opportunities for parents and students are still available.
Mark your calendars for these March events. The second family day of service this year has been moved to Saturday March 2nd. Orphans of the Storm will be here that day and our service projects will be focused on supporting local animal shelters. We expect a few canine friends to join us from Orphans of the Storm.
Lookout Broadway, Rondout’s Spring Concert is sure to be a showstopper. Students will be performing on March 6, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Libertyville High School. This concert features students in grades K through eight. Students will be traveling to the high school for an on-stage rehearsal that morning. Permission slips were sent out today.
We are finalizing a speaker for the Safety Night, so we are moving it to a later date in the school year. February is a very busy month so we've moved a few things around to make it less hectic.
Several questions have come up regarding the American Heart Association’s Kid’s Heart Challenge. Fundraising is not required to participate in the challenge. That is optional. Parents may sign up
their students to work through the challenge activities online and no donations are necessary to enjoy the activities that promote a healthy lifestyle. There will be a special schoolwide activity that will have homeroom teachers from the classes with great participation competing in a basketball competition during a town hall meeting during March. Please feel free to reach out to one of us or Mr. Williams if you have any questions.
Have a wonderful week! Until next time…
