Dear Residents -
March is upon us and you know what that means? It is Irish American Heritage Month. So, at the Town Board meeting on Tuesday, we will be presenting the Rockland County St. Patrick’s Day 2024 honorees with proclamations, including Sgt. Nicholas Whalen of the Orangetown Police Department and US Marine Corps, who will be the Parade Commander. Congratulations to all!
Last Thursday, I testified before the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance of the Financial Services Committee. The hearing was held at the Rockland County Legislature Chambers and was titled “Restoring Prosperity in American Communities: Examining the Failures of Status Quo Housing Policy.” I testified from the perspective of a local elected official about the housing shortage and affordability crisis in New York. I made one point very clear, that if New York State or the Federal Government are looking to help, they must do so by working with local officials, not against them. And that any regulations should be in the form of incentives, not mandates, for more housing. To hear my full testimony, please click here.
The Presidential Primary Election is on April 2, 2024. Early voting will begin on Saturday, March 23, 2024. As there will be no voting on Easter Sunday, this year there are only 8 days of early voting, with each day being extended by one hour. If you are not registered to vote, you have until March 23, 2024 to do so. For more information, contact the Rockland County Board of Elections at (845) 638-5712 or click here.
With St. Patrick’s Day only a few short weeks away, I am looking forward to marching down the “Avenue” once again. This year the Parade will be held on the actual holiday, March 17, 2024. Time to start getting your green ready!
Enjoy your weekend and, as always, stay safe.
Regards –
